Hello, Mastodon!
I've been gone a while, with much ado about lifestuff, so I suppose a re #introduction is in order.
I'm a retired innocent bystander who lives in the Caribou country of Central British Columbia, Canada.
I have views that are strongly progressive but not "Liberal" as I don't believe #HumanRights can be negotiated and that everyone has the right to be themselves, free of violence and harassment with my full support.
I'm fond of #SciFi and #Horror movies, TV shows and books. My tastes run the gamut from best sellers to creepypasta.
I'm in the process of launching #SignalThirteen, an internet radio stream on #AzuraCast focusing on 80s and 90s #alternative, #electronic and #dance as a radio station of one due to a deep love of those years, even if there are some specific nights I'd rather forget. :blobcatscared:
Looking forward to getting to know or being re-acquainted with you all.
☮️ ❤️ 📻

In view of Discord's recent decision to enshittify, and the fact that I am an ornery 55 year old who likes old stuff, I'll be adding IRC to our tool box.
Chanserv skills are EXTREMELY dusty, but that goes with the rest of me so DALnet it is.

Thanks to a switch to an Apple iPhone to replace my Samsung, I have mostly stepped out of the Google Ecosystem/Sewer Flow.
Firefox, Proton Mail, Apple Mail for auth. Mastodon for social media. Peertube for animated works.
I'm also de-Googlefying the website.
I won't have useful analytics, and I consider that a good thing. Show up, or not - it'll have a more pub/club like vibe to it anyways.
Knowing everything about who visits would just be - well, creepy. #SignalThirteen

Happy Holidays from #FallRiver and #SignalThirteen - may no critters be stirring.

For all that celebrate, a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from #FallRiver, and the strange folks at #SignalThirteen

CW: Eye Contact, Eldritch Entities.
The great thing about life in #FallRiver is that someone is always looking out for you.

"Folks were first interested in what was simply called "The Fowler Box" or just "The Box". Radio was nothing new, however the device received signals with no identifiable antenna and no visible power source.
When they heard a voice from the box that seemed like any other voice transmission, except it was in no known language to any of the persons hearing it and it terrified them when they realized they understood the speaker regardless."

The focal point of the station, as well as the town, is the broadcast antenna in Whispering Pine Park. It has been in operation since the 1920s, and in addition to broadcasting #SignalThirteen maintains the barrier that keeps the rest of the world safe from what lurks beneath #FallRiver

"I'd never seem it before. That being true, why did I know that it would be there? How did I know that it had always been been there? It was there now. It had been there since before the wood that made the desk it now sat upon had been trees sprouting out from the earth."

Why the heck did no one tell me about The Avalanches?
"Frontier Psychiatry" is my new favourite thing. Definate Bomb the Bass vibes.

CW: Wierd tales of Fall River
Dismissed by many as coincidence, those who have become lost in the shadows of the Harrowood Forest have produced some remarkably similar artworks upon their return.
These three images are three separate artists, separated by a span of 64 years. Two of them disappeared, and one of them remains under care in a health facility in Vancouver in a state of catatonia.

In the mid-17th century, wealthy nobleman and occultist Isaac Raine unearthed mention of an ancient artefact of dreadful power and effect.
After decades of study, he began to acquire some of the more obscure notes said to be from Juan DeFuca and his discovery of the northern coast of what is now British Columbia. Despite being disputed by every scholar, he began building his followers, servants and cultists and in 1653 they sailed across the Atlantic for the Azores.

If I had a theme song it would probably be Mayor of Simpleton and I'm ok with that.

As the broadcast project gets closer to launch I have to be honest, it's exhilarating and terrifying.
(Relatively) Soon it's going to be loose in the world and people will have opinions and thoughts and suggestions and I'm really trying hard not to think about that right now.

Finally wrote my way out of a huge passive protagonist problem and damn, it felt good.
Wishing everyone great things in their WIPs, and in Nanowrimo Prep. #amwriting #SignalThirteen #AudioDrama

C 1600 BCE, after Minoan merchants bring the Fragment to the island of Crete from ancient Egypt, a devastating eruption destroys the island of Thera, sending shockwaves, ash, and tsunami out into the rest of the world. It is the largest explosion in human history, and once again the Fragment disappears from recorded history until the Mycenaen Greeks excavate Knossos a century later.

Fell River in the early morning. As it makes its way into town the mists rise up to obscure its passage through the barrier that cuts Fell River off from the rest of the world. #SignalThirteen #FellRiver

It shares a great deal with a similar piece of art work found in a hunters cabin 40 kilometers north of Fell River. The man who lived there with his family left this drawing behind shortly before he, and his partner and child disappeared. #FellRiver #SignalThirteen

From the Archive: This ink drawing was found in three separate locations around the Village in two cabins and one hunting shack on Salem Hill

"As was so often the case in human history the trouble started with a book..."
