In case one wants something more official-sounding than [the quoted minirant] — here's SIN's* statement.

    * SIN is South Australia's peer-led sex worker network.

TL;DR: South Australia pushes forward sex work zonification.

Beautiful. Just absolutely wonderful. No way this bites anyone's arse, nope. Certainly not the workers'. All completely fine. It's not like measures of this sort have probed themselves constantly harmful ('cept for the business getting a free monopoly), not at all.
    😮‍💨

    -

    > Existing venues in the exclusion zones will not be impacted by the new rules

Gee, I wonder who might actually be profiting from this change. Utter mystery. No way one could guess.

The fact that historically zonification has almost always been pushed for and enforced by existing brothels to ensure monopoly (and free exploitation) is a complete coincidence, nothing whatsoever to do with this.

    🤡

    -

    > Mr Champion said these new changes would protect certain areas of the CBD from "what might be collectively known as strip joints and sex shops".

    The fuck is this ****..?
Yeah, sure, protect people's delicate sensibilities from seeing a dildo or a nipple if they “accidentally” wander into a shop clearly labelled "SEX THINGS HERE" in neon letters, least they be traumatized for life…

Much better the still completely allowed liquor, tobacco or betting joints, no doubt. 🙄

    -

    > "These should be the places people want to live and visit and frequent and we want them to have a particular civic character, a strong civic character."

    > "As more and more people move into the city, we want to give them certainty that the areas that they're moving into align with their expectation and continue to in the future."

In other words, “we find sex workers icky and want them away”. Goddamn these- 🤬

    -

    > "No-one's making moral judgements about it, you know we live in a free society, and people are free to make their own choices."

What the… is this guy serious?

Hey, anyone over at Adelaide who can give this *&^%$#@! a GOOD smack (or two, or three)..?

I doubt he'll get any better or think this nonsense twice (or once), but he sure is asking for it. 🤦‍♀️

  8. This is why SWERFs will never make sense to me, who are you to judge me for providing pleasure and comfort to another human being?

What is wrong in making other people feel good about themselves?

If I was a nun, you would call me a saint.

    Because I'm a sex-worker you call me a whore.

Hi I’m posting this because I got tipped today! Reminder that tips don’t have to be a lot, a few dollars from several people is great so that it’s not just coming from one person 💖
I’ll post the uncensored version sometime tomorrow if I make $20 more in tips! 😊

  14. RE: mathstodon.xyz/@maxpool/116947

Interesting in its own abstract way. Of course rigid rules give their enforcers (formally appointed or not) too much power and support and amplify inequalities. (Big part of the push behind full decriminalization of #SexWork, abortion, drugs, etc.). Surely that's just an externality like the economists say.

  15. "…what’s truly eye-popping about #OnlyFans is the amount of money in play. Sophie Rain, a self-professed virgin in her early twenties, claims to have earned more than a hundred million dollars on the site. Everyone loves a bootstraps tale—it’s the original American foot fetish—and OnlyFans’ headline-grabbing payouts have taken some of the #stigma out of #sexwork."

  17. «Not Your Mama's Feminism: The Policy in Practice - The Softer Side of Criminalization»

    swopbehindbars.org/post/not-yo

    > What was once openly punitive is now framed as diversion, exit, or support. People are told they aren’t being punished - they’re being helped. But the help comes with conditions, and those conditions begin with arrest.

    > The police still initiate the process. The courts still control the outcome.

    > The assumption driving these systems is not subtle. It is the belief that people in the sex trade cannot be trusted to define their own needs, that safety must be coerced, and support only works when backed by punishment. Once this assumption is embedded in policy, autonomy is no longer possible.

    > What disappears in these systems is not just flexibility, but real choice. Services are not offered freely. Under arrest-based “support” models, assistance is no longer something a person can opt into or out of; it becomes something they must earn through compliance.

    > Genuine equality would treat sex work like every other form of labor affected by risk, stigma, and exploitation. It would mean access to services without arrest, healthcare without surveillance, job training without coercion, and the right to stay, leave, or transition on one’s own terms.

    > Buyer criminalization and mandated exit programs do not offer equality. They offer control with better branding.
