Support the Black Lives Memorial Garden.
You can contact the Mayor of Seattle, Bruce Harrell, below.
Demand Harrell know:
- Stop the sweeps, homeless sweeps kill
- Stop selectively closing Cal Anderson
- Stop arresting people for helping the homeless
- Remove the dangerous private security from the BLMG. -
SPD and cops forced the homeless nearest the BLMG to leave. They also kicked out mutual aid groups and arrested an organizer and claimed they would charge them with trespassing.
A homeless person's tent and all belongings could not be saved by garden defenders and were thrown into the garbage truck.

Help support the Black Lives Memorial Garden by calling Seattle's Deputy Mayor Tim Burgess at 206-930-5662 and tell him to negotiate with the community to save the garden.

Almost as quickly as it started the parks workers could be heard discussing how much of a waste of resources this would become if the cops were forced to arrest dozens of people over a garden.
According to activist who spoke with the park rangers the issue had to be escalated to Deputy Mayor Tim Burgess.
Ultimately the cops and backhoe backed down for today.

Moments later a bulldozer was rolled up to the edge of the garden. Word quickly spread among the local community that the garden was about to be demolished.
A crowd rapidly grew to nearly 100 community members who all showed up in a matter of minutes.

Early this morning gardeners at the Black Lives Memorial Garden reported a series of police intimidation and threats.
Cops said if people did not stop gardening, they would face arrest.
