Underwater seismographs planned to study Santorini’s Kolumbo volcano
Four state-of-the-art portable underwater seismographs that will study the underwater volcano of Kolumbo in Santorini were being installed inside the caldera on Tuesday and next to the submarine fault of Anydros, by an international team of researchers, following a spike in seismic activity in the area.

"Such earthquake swarms are not uncommon under active volcanic systems and have also been observed repeatedly under Santorini and Kolumbo (Bohnhoff et al. 2006). One possible cause is volcanic activity, i.e. molten rock or other fluids rising upwards in the earth's crust. Another possibility is the movement of the earth's plates, which can lead to stresses in the rock and the sudden release of these stresses and thus to earthquakes."

Whine or wine? Last night, picked wine. An odd duo for the main event, the Thalassitis 2015 Assyrtiko, with synthetic cork, was super. So youthful, so fresh, restrained and elegant. The Pegau 1998 Reservée opened slowly, but blossomed into pure deliciousness. A little rough around the edges, it could use drinking, but it was no slouch. And a sweet conclusion posted on recently.
