  3. I said I wouldn't buy any libraries this Black Friday season, but I'm wavering. The three things I'm missing the most – a better string quartet, an intimate string section and a choir – damn you, 8Dio!

  4. Piano Sample Libraries You Love to Hear

Piano sample libraries are plentiful. However, not all of them are satisfying to listen to or play. Stan Stewart checks out 49 of them.

  5. CW: Transphobia, transphobe

I keep seeing ads for Spitfire Labs but here's the reason I won't be buying:

There are PLENTY of other software companies out there who don't support hate. I would recommend #ShoutAudio as a starter :

  6. #SpitfireAudio 's #BBCSymphonyOrchestraDiscover is now free, and I tested it earlier this month. I worked the sound a bit, attempted a retro-smooth Ormandy/Philadelphia style.

    Cons:
    - No legato patches
    - No mutes
    - No round robin
    - Limited dynamics
    - One mic pos.

    Pros:
    - The programming and mic is excellent!
    - Instantly decent sound – incredible for 200MB
    - Possibly my new favourite tool for sketching out orchestral ideas quickly
