  1. Went to the garden this afternoon. Pruned the raspberries - dead canes out, live canes cut back to 4 ft tall.

There's still snow in the shadows, and the ground was surprisingly frozen so hard that I could not pull stakes to look under row covers, except for this one place. This spinach was planted 9/27/2023 and harvested til almost Thanksgiving, then covered.

  6. #gardening report: after a week of lows in the low 20s F, it's no surprise that the ground is frozen, and the kale, collards and brussels sprouts are done. So, it's the perfect time to put a blanket of leaf mulch over the garlics to slow down the freeze/thaw cycles. And, lookie lookie under the row covers: LUNCH! Yes, arugulas and spinaches still harvestable. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed #garlic #RowCover

  11. Garden report: got row covers put up over arugulas, lettuces and spinaches. Last year these gave us salads thru the first week of Dec, and the spinaches and arugulas wintered over and we started harvesting in March. #gardening #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed #RowCover #FallProtection
