Ever heard of the children’s book “A is for Alien”? It is the best/worse kid’s book ever. Very dark. My granddaughter Evie waddled over and handed it to me, saying “A…A…A…”. It’s her fave book. “F is for Facehugger. You don’t want it to give you a hug!”
Best part of this is one of Evie’s middle names is Ripley (not a joke). Her first name is after a relative but shortened to Evie because of the strong female character from “V for Vendetta”. Her birthday is Halloween, almost as cool as if she’d been born on November 5th.

When my dad was a little boy, he and a lot of other kids at his school were being molested by one of the teachers. None of the adults believed the kids, so the kids took matters into their own hands on Bonfire Night. They tied the pederast into an outhouse and built the bonfire around it. The guy was saved, but promptly left town and never bothered the kids again. Tonight’s bonfire goes out to my dad and those other kids who did what no one else would do for them. #ResidentialSchool #BonfireNight #RememberRemember #Indigedon

Since my latest grandchild (first granddaughter!) had to be c-section, since her name is Evie (short for Evelyn) they had wanted to pick out November 5th, but as it was a Sunday this year, no go. So they decided on the next best date - Halloween. Still, tomorrow I will remember remember how lucky I am, and how she will grow up strong and fiercely independent.
