I think you have a point, but I still do think there are subliminal clues. Two examples off the top of my head:

The (properly functioning) scroll bar indicates:

• Whether or not the current viewpoint is the entire document or not
• The size of the viewport relative to the document
• The position of the viewport within the document

Hiding scrollbars by default (or making them tiny) breaks all of that, and it's really, really dumb.

The other one is having highly contrasting active vs. inactive titlebars. The current SOP is for the active and inactive titlebars to be either the exact same color or very close, and that is (sorry again) dumb.

Especialy as our eyeballs age, being able to tell the active window at a glance without having to squint at tiny cues is essential to getting work done. COSMIC sidesteps this by doing the typical same-color-theme, but having a fairly loud highlight around the entire active window. I don't love the approach, but I respect the fact that they actually do that.

These are basic usability features that should not be debated as subjective aesthetic preferences, for the love of God. :BlobCatNotLikeThisCry:
