Disturbances during fireworks night in Scotland led to significant coverage in the media this week.
There were a number of incidents where emergency services were injured as festivities turned into confrontations with police.
But reporting by the BBC and Edinburgh Evening News led to controversy, as pictures used to illustrate the events were called into question.

GUY FAWKES night
Great article from the Yorkshire Post from 5th November 1901 mourning the loss of some Guy Fawkes traditions in Leeds. Roast potatoes have disappeared & parkin has degenerated into ginger bread. There is still some hope though as the lads of Leeds continue to be bold "chompers"

Out #walking for 2mi (an advantage of #FireworksNight is The Boy will happily walk for an hour to spot fireworks). It was nice; would've been nicer if it weren't for:
❌ Fast food delivery driver entirely blocking a pavement (a big BMW really isn't appropriate for this job either)
❌ Taxi driver idling outside a pub for at least 10 minutes.
❌ A person walking his dog at the height of fireworks being let off. Dog was clearly not happy, barking away.
❌ Fast drivers, partially blocked pavements.

The annual explosion-and-fire-fest has begun, where neighbours try to make the most noise, sending the most toxins and particulates into the sky, all in the name of "ooh, pretty!".
I'll tolerate organised displays, but I'm no fan of home fireworks.
