🚨 Heads up!

When conservatives say “save the children”, there is very often a rather important asterisk hiding behind it:

Save the “real”™ children.

The moment a child is trans, queer, gender-nonconforming, neurodivergent, different, "difficult", inconvenient, or simply fails to fit neatly into their little picture of what a child should be, suddenly the concern for children and their rights can disappear remarkably quickly.

And worse: the very people screaming loudest about “protecting children” can become some of the biggest threats to those children’s safety, dignity, autonomy and wellbeing.

Because apparently the child is precious right up until the child becomes a person.

(Remember there are still people who think children are basically property!)

Children need to be protected from people who want to harm them, shame them, hurt them, indoctrinate them, or force them into becoming someone they are not.

Children aren't projects to be fixed or moulded to fit somebody else's ideology. They deserve to grow up safe, loved, and free to discover who they are, knowing that they are already good, already wonderful, and worthy of being exactly who they are.
