I've read quite a few articles on qualitative comparative analysis (#QCA), but nothing quite so broad as Charles Ragin's The Comparative Method book. It's a good mix of conceptual & practical, argument for a qualitative/quantitative compromise, and focused on political #sociology examples I'm familiar with. QCA uses a #boolean approach, looking for the combined effect/process of multiple variables upon outcomes. Fascinating & pitched at those w/ #stats knowledge. https://www.ucpress.edu/book/9780520280038/the-comparative-method #reading

Today, the Call for Abstracts for the QCA Paper Development Workshop (Antwerp, Dec 12-13) ends - an excellent opportunity to get feedback on work-in-progress #QCA studies: https://compasss.org/intlqca/abstracts_2023/

Very proud to share my newly published paper on #ConflictDynamics 🥳 We used #QualitativeComparativeAnalysis (#QCA) to determine which conditions explain latent, collaborative, or escalated dynamics in #LandUseConflicts (and how to get people to work together more often in these conflicts). It's the centerpiece of my PhD project. Feels amazing to have this milestone finished 😊

I was late to qualitative comparative analysis (QCA), but I'm thankful I had the opportunity to learn about it a few years ago. A few co-authors and I used it recently in a research study.
If you're interested in #QCA, this is one of the best introductions I could recommend. It's one of the few such pieces that I've read more than once. Good stuff:
