  1. During this morning's presentations, a fellow from the WV state DOT gushed about how he wanted to bring autonomous vehicles to West Virginia. I probably owe a ton of money to the hotel which sustained damages when my eyebrows shot through the roof.

Later, over lunch, folks from the various systems were all rolling their eyes and chuckling behind their hands at this hubris. "That's the Morrisey administration for you," one told me, amidst much head-shaking. At one point the guy had said it would be a perfect solution for senior rides....my lunch companions talked about how oldsters would want to socialize with the drivers, and I pointed out that most oldsters wouldn't want to go anywhere near an autonomous vehicle, and neither would I.

  2. #VTA light rail is packed with 49ers fans. We’re already chanting and cheering, which is a shared experience we’d totally be missing out on if we were isolated in our big metal boxes.

  3. Riding home on #VTA after a bunch of beers 🍻. Feels good to be able to sit in blasting A/C, connected to WiFi, and know I have a safe ride home 🚌 #publictransit4ever

  4. This is an excellent piece by @monicamallon about the deceptive language used by anti-transit organizations. With the #climatecrisis already here, we need to invest more in #PublicTransit, not less. A better world is possible!

  5. The best way to celebrate our beautiful planet is to take care of it, and the best way to take care of it is to ditch your car. #PublicTransit #publictransit4ever bird.makeup/users/vta/statuses

  6. One of the best reasons to take and support #PublicTransit is the drastically reduced environmental impacts. In 2019, driving alone resulted in almost 3 million metric tons of emissions in #SantaClaraCounty.

*All* of #VTA operations produced about 40,000 metric tons of emissions in 2021.

40,000 vs 3,000,000. That’s an insane difference in the amount of GHG emissions.
