🔍 How Open Is Our Science?
Our new study assessed data- and code-sharing policies across 275 journals in ecology and evolution, and examined policy compliance using submissions to Proc B (n = 2,340) and Ecology Letters (n = 571).
While many journals have policies, the strictness, clarity, and accessibility of these policies vary widely. This inconsistency can hinder reproducibility and transparency in research.

🎉 From Hackathon to Pre-registered Study
This project started as a hackathon at SORTEE 2023, where 37 participants—now co-authors—helped assess journal data- and code-sharing policies.
We pre-registered the study (https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/ZXURH) to ensure transparency and prevent questionable research practices like p-hacking and HARKing.
We’re thrilled by this collaboration and grateful to @sortee, #ProcB, and Ecology Letters for providing support and submission data.
