Computer-generated video voiceovers on Amazon reviews might be used to taylor accents or overcome language barriers. These sound like altered human voices to my ear, uncanny.
It seems like a failure as a sales aid, but that's likely not the point if Amazon rewards reviewers for quantity and frequency.

@jk This perverse incentive wouldn't be nearly as strong if there were a way to electronically pay a website's operator an amount on the order of 0.25 EUR or USD. Instead, payment processors' fee per transaction incentivized a package deal: buy one article for $3 bundled with a month of access to all other articles on that site (and no other sites). Ad targeting tech promised a workaround for lack of micropayments, but its perverse incentives were even worse.

Have you heard the theoretical origin story of the Cobra Effect, which is a Perverse Incentive?
In colonized India, the Brits were concerned about the vast population of cobras. So they offered a bounty on them.
Indians gamed the system, breeding cobras and selling them for the bounty. When the Brits found out, breeders released them into the wild. This inadvertent effect is the Cobra Effect.

Looking back years, the attack on the web by the likes of #TheBigs becomes *quite* obvious.
We need to use ways of mitigating #DDOS attacks that don't involve yielding to #CAGEMAFIA (the terrorists in this scenario).
What if fediverse instances and apps, for example, had a built-in I2P #communication strategy during #connectivity issues?
Yielding to TheBigs is so, so wrong. We believe any website can remove the #perverseIncentive for them to attack by including a fallback to I2P.
Thoughts?

Does anyone on #Fedi actually believe that a #debtJubilee is a good idea?
Our opinion is that rewarding #speculators (and punishing the #saver even futher) will create the most perverse of #incentives.
Maybe its just us, though…

@Siphonay
Agree. These are systemic issues. Throwing printed money at this problem could have the opposite effect in the long-term.It could create a #perverseIncentive to continue the violence.
This is not a time for #disasterCorporatism... This is a time to #rethink #corporatism and #systemicViolence and incarceration quotas etc.
