Earlier this year we celebrated our 20th birthday! However, it was not until late August 2006 that we adopted our name The Confused Greenies and (with help from Prof. Denise Caterinacci) our intentionally badly translated into Italian name i Verdi Confusi!

Since we originally started on the campus of Case Western Reserve University, we named ourselves after the notoriously confused campus shuttle buses. Of course, this moniker wouldn't mean much away from CWRU which is why we go by the Italian (replicating historic troupes) when performing commedia dell'arte for medieval and Renaissance events. Later we would also add Players' Patchwork Theatre Company to help pull both names together and better project what we do!

So happy two decades of green confusion!

July 8 is National Video Game Day to celebrate a fun pastime! Though we haven't parodying video games too often, last year at Cleveland ConCoction we did debut a dramatic reading of "The Mushrooms of Venice" adapting the classic Super Mario games with Renaissance theatrical fantasy of commedia dell'arte pastorale. A fully staged production has been a possible consideration for Pennsic and though not this year perhaps the fungus will be among us in 2027?!

Though we did not stage as many performances or travel to as many places as the prior year, what we did was majestic including our first commedia dell'arte pastorale historic fantasy style plays and our first fully staged reading, a sudden and unexpected giant whale, and then wrapping up with writing dozens of new three-act scenarios for future productions!

This year was tough in many ways and stressful. But it's always been our goal to make the world better one laugh, one smile at at a time!
