On the morning of the tenth anniversary to September 11, we were scheduled to perform commedia dell'arte at a local Renaissance festival.
But we asked ourselves how to do comedy in a world like this?
The answer was simple. And it's something we still hold true to this day.
We never forget. We take the moments to honor those lost.
But then we continue to make the world better. One smile, one laugh, at a time.
Because that's what we do. Because that's who we are. And because that is how we win against anyone who wants us scared, sad, or angry.
By continuing to live, to love, and to laugh.

So we will continue to remember this great person and fabulous entertainment and take wisdom from his words on the craft as we always believe what we do makes the world at least a bit better one smile, one laugh, at a time.

Earlier this year we celebrated our 20th birthday! However, it was not until late August 2006 that we adopted our name The Confused Greenies and (with help from Prof. Denise Caterinacci) our intentionally badly translated into Italian name i Verdi Confusi!
Since we originally started on the campus of Case Western Reserve University, we named ourselves after the notoriously confused campus shuttle buses. Of course, this moniker wouldn't mean much away from CWRU which is why we go by the Italian (replicating historic troupes) when performing commedia dell'arte for medieval and Renaissance events. Later we would also add Players' Patchwork Theatre Company to help pull both names together and better project what we do!
So happy two decades of green confusion!

When we heard tabletop creators had declared Monster Week 2026 (April 20 - 24) to be about the Fae, we had to celebrate with a clip from our fairy funny farce "The Hazards of Hunting Red-Caps" - though our commedia dell'arte referenced actual historical scholarship about the fae during the Society for Creative Anachronism's time period which can quite differ from D&D as Brighella here points out!
An expanded version of "Red-Caps" has been a consideration for our Pennsic Performing Arts Tent show. Someday, some fae!

What started as an April Fools Joke in 2022, turned into a fully written five-act commedia dell'arte pastorale time travel fantasy scenario in 2025! And maybe it will be staged in the near.... FUTURE!
October 21 is Back to the Future Day, celebrating a destination name in the classic sci-fi comedy! As one of our April Fools Day fake play ideas, we randomly brainstormed "Batte to the Future" - only to discover later that it would be a theme for the 2025 Cleveland ConCoction while at the same time we were studying historical fantasy theatre. The rest, as they say, is history... or is that future history?
Though it may no longer be the anniversary of the first film, hopefully we'll debut this play soon!
