Attending #ParksCanada #TerraNovaNP inaugural Dark Sky Festival. After the cosmic trivia event last night, clouds cleared conveniently just in time for a public viewing session. Couple fireballs got some good crowd ooohs and awwwes!
After the public session, captured this fireball at my campsite.

Kootenay: The Park Built for a Highway
Kootenay National Park has a unique origin. It was created in 1920 when BC gave land to the federal government in exchange for building the Banff-Windermere Highway. This 'highway for land' deal resulted in a park that protects a significant corridor of the Rockies, including the famous hot springs and Marble Canyon. #Canada #Kootenay #CanadianHistory #ParksCanada 🇨🇦

Nice to be back under a clear moonless night sky in a dark sky preserve last night. Thankfully we were also inside an area of minimal wildfire smoke (as confirmed by #Astrospheric smoke layer view).
All those stars making it more difficult to discern constellations. Andromeda and double cluster naked eye. Occasional meteor. An experience that never gets old!

Good Morning #Canada
If I ever got a hankering to work for the Government it would be with #ParksCanada. Me driving around in a pickup truck telling Grizzlies to behave. Parks Canada manages 37 National Parks, 11 national park reserves, 5 National Marine Conservation Areas, 171 National Historic Sites, 1 National Urban Park (Rouge), and 1 National Landmark (Pingo). Established May 19, 1911, it was the world's 1st national park service. -
Good Morning #Canada
Banff and Jasper #NationalParks are popular #TravelCanada destinations every summer, averaging 4m and 2m annual visitors respectively. Perhaps you are looking for similar experiences but maybe want to go somewhere with fewer crowds. Thankfully #ParksCanada is thinking about you and has recommendations for the hiking trail less traveled.
BTW - Tuktut Nogait National Park reported 2 visitors in 2025#CanadaIsAwesome #GetOutside #Adventure

Good news for Jasper as the federal government puts in another $520m in addition to the $385m they’ve already pledged. Meanwhile I’m not sure the Alberta government has done anything for the town or park other than pull their one offer because it was conditional on expanding the townsite which Parks Canada was not going to do.

Cape Breton: Where Mountains Meet Sea
The Cabot Trail winds through Cape Breton Highlands, but its magic is where mountain meets sea. The park is a rare blend of ecosystems where Acadian, Boreal, and Taiga forests coexist on steep cliffs plunging into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. This dramatic landscape creates a unique habitat for moose, bald eagles, and the elusive Canada lynx. #Canada #CapeBreton #NovaScotia #ParksCanada 🇨🇦
