Personal observation. I've written my fair share of articles, books & other stuff. As not so uncommon in the Humanities, especially if you're not one of the "big names," you don't get many citations, even on well-received publications. The one time I wrote a chapter about #VideoGames & the use of the #Paratext concept in #GameStudies, in a bit of an odd anthology, it turned out to be by far the most famous piece of academic text I have ever written! Published in 2015, it just keeps on giving 😂

...i feel like #paratext is a piece i've been missing from my art. i keep sending little cards with hand-written notes to go along with my art packages, & now i realize these are paratexts: a little extra text to help you understand what you're looking at. i love it. y'all are about to get 20 pages of paratext with every art order lol.

By composing a book’s paratext, a publisher addresses the reader about how to experience the book.
