  3. After 1 year of prep it’s RRR for the 4th time 🎉 350 participants expected next week! Organising it feels rewarding, strenuous 😅 and a bit like testing Murphy’s Law. Why hold this conference every 4 years since 2013? Here’s why 👇

  4. What does the diet of bacteria have to do with the global climate? 💭🌍

Peatlands are powerful carbon sinks – if we let them stay intact. New research from ECH members shows how wetland farming – #paludiculture – and microbial life can work together to reduce #emissions without sacrificing land use. 🦠

  8. @christianschwaegerl Thanks for this lucid article! Conventional agriculture on peatlands is not sustainable. Farmers should have only two options on peatlands: #restoration or #paludiculture. Achieving significant changes in land use by voluntary programs will take too long (if it's possible at all). And politicians still seem to fail to see the urgency; in some regions (e.g. the Donaumoos) the fertile soil will be completely consumed in 15 to 20 yrs if there's no change in course.

  10. 🌾🐸The #climate is benefitting from the rewetting of peatlands. But it will not work without economic incentives. 🏞️ A new study examines the factors needed to transform drained #peatlands and identifies options for EU policymakers. zalf.de/en/aktuelles/Pages/Pre #paludiculture
