I have no idea what this tiny brown insect is. It is no more than 1mm long. It appears to be carrying around some rubbish it collected.
I found it crawling on a container of figs packed in Childers, Qld. It didn’t pose for the photos!

These ants have recently invaded our kitchen, especially the pantry. They are tiny, as you can see from the 5-cent piece for comparison.

I didn’t photograph many birds yesterday at Mookin-Bah Reserve but there were plenty of butterflies.
One is an Orchard Swallowtail and the others are Common Crow butterflies, feasting on nectar.

I made this GIF from a sequence of still photos of an egret shaking its wings. The photos were taken hand-held at 10 fps and are about 3 times slower in this animation.

@david Here is one of a group of Hardheads I saw at Oxley Creek Common a few weeks ago. They and some Black Ducks were swimming low in the water and appeared to be skimming food from the surface.
