These are always hard to photograph against the ridiculously bright ceiling but I have a few more photos of them. Works better in the summer because bringing a lens with metal casing from 0°C into 30° 100% humidity is not going to work.

Malayan Flying Fox Pteropus v...

These are always the most difficult to get pictures from because the ceiling is a light and they are not far enough from the lens. The minimum focus distance is 2.7m. And in the winter the lens is immediately fogged up if you enter the building. With around 10°C it was ok-ish at least.

But they are so cute!

This is Giant Fruit Bat, known as a “flying fox.” Their wingspan can extend to four feet.

Photographer Hardik Shelat captured the beautiful animal in a rare daytime appearance. It came out of its nocturnal slumber to cool off in the intense Indian heat.

Flying foxes have, like, a reverse uncanny valley effect.

Any individual aspect of their anatomy is alien and deeply-creepy. The flesh-wings. The stub-legs. The spotlight-eyes. The worm-tongue.

But then you see them moving around as a whole and they're just big fluffy sky-dogs. Awwww.
