Five German nationals are killed in an avalanche in Italy.
Five German mountaineers have died in an avalanche disaster in the Ortler mountainous region of Italy's South Tyrol.
On Sunday, Italian rescue teams also found the bodies of the last two missing Germans - a father and his 17-year-old daughter.
Three other members' bodies of the group had already been recovered on Saturday.

Video of us ascending the glacier at the Ortler (3905m) in Italy. Weather was sub-optimal but doable. Because of static in the air, we do not go fully up to the steel summit cross, but descended very quickly instead. We missed the summit maybe by 10-20 meters.

A day of winter hiking above Val #Müstair in #Switzerland’s 🇨🇭 southeast. Views reach as far as Mount #Ortler 🇮🇹, almost 4,000 metres high and topped by a lenticular cloud, a #Föhnlinse (first picture, left). And: a refuelling stop with #Knödel soup, half way down the trail.

"... auf einem Eisfeld ausgerutscht..."
"... waren beim Abstieg entlang des Hintergrats in das Eisfeld geraten..."🤔 bei einer Route die gesamt als "schwer" eingestuft wird: AD, Kletterschwierigkeit bis UIAA IV, Eis bis 40°.
AD bedeutet: "Ziemlich schwierig - Wiederholte Sicherung im Fels notwendig, längere und exponierte Kletterstellen im III-IV Grad (UIAA). Steilere Firnhänge, gelegentlich Standplatzsicherung notwendig, Gletscher mit vielen Spalten und großem Bergschrund."
Sorry, aber da "rutscht" man nicht aus. Und bei einer anspruchsvollen Gletschertour "gerät man" nicht in ein Eisfeld, es ist zwangsläufig. Man weiß, dass man über Fels, Eis und kombiniertes Gelände gehen muss.
