Nüshu - Le langage secret des Chinoises
Pendant des siècles, en Chine, les femmes ont déjoué l’oppression masculine avec le « nüshu », une langue secrète symbole d’indépendance et de sororité, qu'elles se sont transmise de génération en génération. Histoire d’une résistance culturelle en passe d’être récupérée par les hommes.
Pendant des siècles, les Chinoises ont été corsetées par une société patriarcale particulièrement autoritaire. Contraintes de se bander les pieds et condamnées à vivre enfermées dans leur foyer, elles n’avaient pas le droit d'apprendre à lire ni à écrire. Pour ne pas succomber au désespoir, elles ont réussi à transgresser les interdits (dont celui de se plaindre) pour communiquer entre elles grâce à une langue secrète, le nüshu.
Cette version réarrangée d’un dialecte local était composée de près de sept cents graphèmes, parfois librement inspirés de caractères chinois classiques, mais souvent entièrement inventés. Les poèmes et les chansons que ces dissidentes du quotidien écrivaient sur des mouchoirs ou des éventails avec des cendres (...) traduisaient leurs sentiments et leurs pensées de manière poétique. Ainsi codés et transmis de génération en génération, leurs messages n’étaient lisibles que pour leurs « sœurs » initiées (...).
Documentaire (2022, 85 min) de Violet Du Feng, née à Shanghai, sur l’énergie rebelle du nüshu et son influence aujourd'hui. La réalisatrice suit le quotidien de Xin et Simu, deux jeunes femmes qui tentent de perpétuer chacune à leur manière l’esprit original de l’« écriture féminine ».
