@beasts I stick by the walled garden assertion. They have justified it as securing email, but I don't believe that to be the motivator behind the scenes. As the saying goes "follow the money". There's no real benefit to Google in securing anyone. Dragging the world into a playing field under their control, however...

Beyond clients for #MicroBlogging platforms, I also expect a lot of loose-coupling to occur at each of the following levels, via #Fediverse solutions:
1. #Identity
2. #identification
3. #authentication
4. #authorization
5. #storageBy the end of this year, I anticipate this level of loose-coupling to have gained significant momentum 😀
Stay tuned!

Yes, the entire #Fediverse is constructed around the #ActivityPub protocol -- at a deep level.
At a slightly higher interop level you have #RSS feeds for content publication and subscription.
#2023 will kickoff with a lot of platforms demonstrating this architectural marvel in a variety of ways.
Architectural marvel? That's because a community of innovators has coalesced around ActivityPub which isn't easy to pull off 😀
