Today is a day filled with pain, sorrow and zero hope. Tomorrow is her birthday and I hope it can be one where she feels love, joy and happiness. I am taking her to see Hamilton, window shopping and her favourite eating place.

Today on the 1st day of pride month and the day before Emily’s birthday the FA ban on trans women in football starts.
This ban has broken my daughter in a way I didn’t think she could break. The pain and sorrow she felt at the end of her last game was soul destroying to witness. Watching your child fall to the floor on a football pitch, a place where she could just be her and feel free, in floods of tears because she won’t get to play with her team again was heartbreaking.
Football has given Emily so much and she adores it, it’s her thing, a place she can loose herself, a place for her to just be Emily, a safe space and the FA have taken it away.
This hasn’t improved anyone’s life or made anyone safer, my daughter is 5ft 8in and 7st 5lbs and hasn’t injured anyone. This ruling is about exclusion, beating down on a minority and sheer cruelty. Emily’s response to being shortlisted ❤️👌🏼⚽️🏳️‍⚧️
I am so proud to be shortlisted for this years @football_v_homophobia @fvhscot hero award and I would like to thank every single person that has nominated me. To quote Bill Shankly, some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.
For me personally football is life, it’s my sanctuary and love. It gave me hope and much needed positivity when I had been bullied out of school and I felt truly isolated and alone, a much needed light in the darkness. From watching @liverpoolfc play and getting to become a proud member of @kop_outs and represent them and my community at events to playing for @trukunitedfc and representing my community from the age of 14 and getting to show other trans kids like myself that we do belong in football, in sports and in society. These opportunities have paved the way to play in a girls football team and play in the women’s football league, again proving that trans kids can and should play. Emily’s girls team didn’t play last week, Emily played for TRUK last week so was very visible for #rainbowlaces week. This weekend she will continue to be visible as a trans girl in football by wearing her rainbow laces in todays match and is taking her progress captain armband for the captain of her girls team to wear. #rainbowlaces #footballforall #nofootballwithoutthet
