@pluralistic's newsletter shared this link: https://thebookslist.com/20-fiction-books-to-inspire-climate-action/, which is an excellent list of #climae #action #books, but the couple I've tried to locate #audiobooks of don't seem to have them easily avialablle. I've tried the #NLSBard, @librofm, #Chirpbooks, and even #audible (I don't subscribe, but whenever I get <n> months of Audible free, I have a List of exclusives that I'd like to listen to).
I even tried Bookshare.org, which I have access to as a student.
I have #LostCause because Cory rocks, but there are many books that I'd like to read that don't have #audiobook editions.
And this is true for other genres, too.

Reading #StaircaseInTheWoods by @chuckwendig, really loving the #Neurodivergent representation in it. While I'm ace, thus don't really relate to a lot of the relationship stuff, I so often see bits of me in some of these characters. I'm I am so appreciative that this book is actually available on #NLSBard so I can access it. I had just been looking through the most recent books to see if anything interesting caught my ear, and I recognized Chuck's name and jumped on it--and I'm glad I did.

not sure how true all this is, but this does make for heart-warming reading. I found this on #NLSBard.
"The chicken who saved us_ the remarkable story of Andrew and Frightful," by Kristin Jarvis Adams
Andrew, the author's son, is autistic. When he was younger he had a beloved pet chicken named Frightful. This bird helped him and his family make it through his suffering from a rare genetic disorder that took months of stressful treatment. Unrated. Adult. -
just checking out an interesting book by John Donvan, "IN a different key, the story of Autism," which is available on #NLSBARD. It's a long read, something like 23 hours, but it gives you quite a history of autism, and how it was discovered in the 1940's, and the progress there-after.

Need some suggestions on #books to read. My family is having a yard sale today and it's really nice outside, so I'd like to take my #Braille display outside and sit and read, but I'm out of new books to read. I love reading anyway and want to find something good. I like #scifi, #fantasy, #mysteries, #thrillers, and certain types of nonfiction. To those who are #blind, if you know of something on #NLSBARd or #Bookshare, that would be great. @bookstodon @mastoblind

This morning I finished "Open carry" by Marc Cameron,. This is the first book in the Arliss Cutter series. I first came across Marc Cameron when he was writing Tom Clancy novles. I then read his Jericho Quinn Series, and I like his own stuff. It's just a fun read where the good guys are good but not perfect and the bad guys get what's coming to them.
Here's the description from BARD:
Open carry DBC27273

Read by David Chandler. A production of Minnesota Braille and Talking Book Library.Suspense Fiction
Mystery and Detective StoriesAfter enlisting in the military, fighting in the Middle East, and working three field positions for Marshal Services, Arliss Cutter is sent to southeast Alaska to find three missing people on Prince of Wales Island. Commercial audiobook. Adult. Unrated.

The week before last, I was under the weather, so I turned to science fiction, which is my comfort food when it comes to reading. So I just finished "Space carrier avalon" by Glynn Stewart. It's the first book in the Castle Federation series and the first book I've read by glynn Stewart. It took a while to get into it, which I find to be true with any new science fiction novel, given all of the new unfamiliar worlds and stuff. By the end, I really liked it, and I'm looking for to reading more books by glynn Stewart and the next book in the Castle Federation series.
The description on BARD is:
Space carrier avalon DB113957
Author: Stewart, Glynn
Reading Time: 10 hours, 53 minutes
Read by: Eric Michael Summerer
Subject: Science Fiction
"Avalon was the flagship of the Castle Federation in the last war, now twenty years past. The first of the deep space carriers, no other warship in the fleet holds as many honors or has recorded as many kills. No other warship in the fleet is as old. Accepting the inevitable, the Federation Space Navy has decided to refit her and send her on a tour of the frontier, showing the flag to their allies and enemies as a reminder of her glory-and then decommission her for good. But Avalon has been a backwater posting for ten years and has problems a mere refit can't fix. The systems along her planned tour have been seeing pirates for the first time in decades, and there are rumblings of Commonwealth scouting ships all along the border. It may be Avalon's final tour, but it looks to be anything but quiet." -- Provided by publisher.#SpaceCarrierAvalon #GlynnStewart #CastleFederation #NLSBARD

Just because this is an issue I have been running into, due to #google deciding to name their large language model the same as an existing and popular service for #blind people, #braille users, etc, the #bard tag is now almost all content related to that, as such the #nls and #NLSBard tags are much better choices to share and find content related to that service.

Merry early-Christmas to me and @TheZooLady! We now both have decent Braille displays, mine now being one that doesn't sound like a mini-gatling gun. #Humanware has done an awesome job with this little #NLS #EReader, and I am totally loving it! I've so far downloaded several books from #NLSBard, and am writing this with the EReader connected to my iPad. Next step: put my character sheets and music on here so I have easy access to that stuff. And one of the things I love with this: it has *INTERNAL* storage, so I don't have to have anything attached or inserted! Yes, this is perfection in an equally perfect case right here!
