  1. CW: Oxidation

Been testing ionic foot baths for nervous system regulation—not for "detoxing," but for intentional rest.

With a warm salt water circuit and electrode, we encourage systemic relaxation and lymph movement. It’s a simple way to shift from tension to ease.

True self-respect is choosing tools that help us release the day's weight. How are you building regulation into your system this week?

Feeling light and rested after this treatment.

  2. I’m a Ceraunophile, but the foster kitten is definitely not. Vancouver had eight thunderclaps on Tuesday night. It was exhilarating for me, but it sent her straight under the bed. When another clap happened this morning, she was scared all over again.

I spent the morning soothing her and showing her she was safe. It’s a good reminder that fear usually comes from things we don't understand. To her, the thunder is a scary threat. To me, it’s just a "sonic boom" caused by air expanding.

Understanding the "why" behind the noise changed my whole experience. I’m happy to say she is finally out from under the bed today. It’s a small win for her nervous system.

When we understand how our own systems work, we don't have to hide from the "thunder" in our lives. We can learn to regulate and stay grounded instead.

  3. The healing secret is Negative Pressure. This is a Yin way to heal.
    (2/2)
Instead of pushing down, we lift the tissue up with electronic cupping.

Suction pulls skin and fascia away from the muscle. It creates space where there was none.

This space acts like a vacuum. It pulls fresh blood and nutrients into dry spots.

The sticky "glue" melts. It turns back into a slippery liquid. When your internal layers can slide again, we call that Liquid Silk.

You aren't just fixing one muscle. You're restoring your whole system.

This is HumanWare. These are the habits that keep your body’s hardware running smooth.

Self-respect is the master switch. It means knowing your body doesn't always need more pressure.

Sometimes, it just needs room to breathe.

  4. The Silver Web (1 of 3): Is your superhero suit too tight? 💃✨

Imagine you’re wearing a thin, itchy superhero suit that covers you from head to toe. If that suit is too tight, you simply can’t dance! This "suit" is real—it's called Fascia.

Think of Fascia as a thin, silver "web" wrapping around every muscle, bone, and organ. It’s your body’s internal fiber-optic network. When we get stressed or stuck in old patterns, this web gets "sticky" and tight, trapping old energy and slowing down our "Humanware" (the physical equipment of our nervous system).

To be a Hi-Fi Human, we have to keep this silver web clear and calm. When the suit is loose and shiny, you don’t just move—you flow. 🕸️🧘‍♀️

  5. Huh. SO the new #Humanware BrailleNote Evolve is apparently partnering with #vispero to offer 6 months of "JAWS For BrailleNote" subscription for free. I have many questions:

    - How is Jaws for BrailleNote different from JAWS for Windows?
    - What happens when the 6-month period is up?
    - How does offering only 6 months at the beginning of one's ownership of the Evolve line up with working your way up to JAWS from the Keysoft interface? WOuldn't the subscription already have expired once the learning curve gets to that point, or can one redeem this later?

  6. Today was the real start of my semester at UOW. I had a meeting with disability support to get everything in place, since I officially began yesterday. My first tutorial is at 3:30 this afternoon, followed by a lecture straight after. It feels good to be settling in and starting to find my rhythm.

I also contacted HumanWare about my Brailliant Braille display, which has been giving me some issues. Thankfully, it’s still under warranty, so I’ll be sending it off for repairs tomorrow. Fingers crossed it comes back in good shape!

Tonight’s dinner is chicken schnitzel with mashed potatoes and veggies, prepared by my husband, who is an absolutely brilliant cook. I feel very lucky.

  7. Audiobook player with non-essential buttons blanked out.
Used electrical tape front and back.

Humanware supply a "shield" which blanks some buttons.
But Pitch, Speed & Eject buttons still add unnecessary complexity.

Device is from the "disability aids" industry, so very overpriced.
But paid for by the #AustralianGovernment as part of DEI. (They don't call it that - but the Trumpists know what it is.)

  8. 📢 I'd like your help!

Me and a friend both have old #HumanWare #BrailleNoteApex #NoteTaker's lying around, and would like to see if we can do anything useful with them. They've been discontinued for some years now, and unfortunately HumanWare never made an SDK for them, but they run Windows CE 6.0 with a custom shell called #KeySoft, so I am fairly confident that we could develop something for them once we reverse-engineer KeySoft's API.

  9. I have a question for my #Blind friends who have #BrailleDisplays in general and more specifically from #Humanware. Did you choose to purchase the extended warranty for your unit? If so did you choose 1 or 2 years? If not why not; and what informed your choice. Thanks for allowing me to learn from you. I express my gratitude in advance.

  10. We have no affiliation and make no endorsements herein but we share this because one of our friends in the BITS chat had recently been discussing #BrailleEmbosser products. As such we make mention of the Boxing Week sale at #Humanware on magnifiers, audio products and some of their #Braille displays and embossers. store.humanware.com/hus/promot

  11. Anyone who owns a #mantis Q40 #braille display noticing that thumb and routing keys are no longer passed onto #NVDA after the v2.4 update? Lot of cool stuff, but something seems to have gone screwy #screenReader #blind #humanware

  13. I just received this long thin box from #Humanware I wonder what’s inside? Maybe it's socks?

  14. I swear AT companies must not like making money, spent half the week trying to reach the sales rep from #Humanware for a quote to then be told that they prefer sales be through their local distributor whom I am now continuing phone tag with. I would never have thought it would be this difficult to spend thousands of dollars…

  15. So, are there other Braille displays having issues connecting to public beta 18.4? Not sure if this has been an ongoing issue. At least with the #humanware #NLS-eReader, there's a definite connection issue. I can wake my phone up with cursor routing but that's about it.

  16. Good morning from a Braille display with a nice, normal battery that isn’t trying to blow up. LOL It is so good to be able to do stuff on my phone without speech again! It's certainly easier to take notes in my sessions with my students without having to listen to a speech synth at the same time! Now to find the tape and ship the old one outa here. #NLS #Ereader #Humanware #Brl #Accessibility

  17. To my fellow #NLS #Humanware #eReader users: if your display starts randomly shutting down and/or not holding a charge, it's time to take a look at the battery panel on the back. If the battery compartment is bulging, that display is toast--the battery is probably swollen. I am speaking from personal experience informed by @TheZooLady’s discussion of the situation with a friend who works for a library for the #blind in his state. Tomorrow I will be calling the library here and seeing about a replacement, and how they want the old one sent back. Guess I’m going speech output only for a bit.

  18. @techsinger @Pawpower @pixelate ChromeOS I agree, but not at all regarding #android, remember the majority of #blind people globally are using android, iOS is only the majority in western europe and north america to start, and android’s #braille support is exceptional beyond the sole issue of HID bluetooth not working yet, which will befixed within the next few months, and currently that only prevents displays from #helptech and #humanware that are under 5 years old from working over bluetooth.

  19. Well this sucks. Could've sworn you could read #Epub files in #VictorReader on the #BrailliantBI20 but I just tried opening one and I was told no application supports it. WTF #Humanware ? And yes, I know I can just read these files off my phone, but I don't always want to do that. So I just downloaded 123 Epub files from Dropbox for nothing I guess. BTW, I have a ton of stuff from #Bookshare on the Brailliant already, think I might have an addiction issue here. #BookHoarderProblems

  20. @devinprater see I am still unclear on why they went with #Humanware for the ereader when they had previously done a large pilot program with the #orbitreader20 which works with many more devices out of the box and is used by organizations like the RNIB and could have been implemented in a similar fashion.

  21. "The First Generation Stream is no longer supported. Therefore, the SoftPak is no longer available." Very disappointed to learn that #Humanware don't consider their past customers. The least they could have done was keep the SoftPak available for purchase, or even free of charge if they had no intention of supporting past hardware monitarily anymore. There's a difference between continuing to develop old parts and simply keeping software packages around. #Accessibility #A11Y #Blind

  22. I have the first generation #VicterReaderStream. Does anyone remember the optional Soft Pack Addon you could purchase for additional features? If it's still available somewhere, I'd like to get my hands on it. On first glance it's on the #Humanware website, but the page only says Victer Reader Stream Soft Pack, then 2 unlabeled links that say window.close(); that do nothing when clicked, and their copyright information below that. #Accessibility #A11Y #Blind

  23. Well, the #Stream three is really buggy. Trying to play an audiobook that is split into several M4B files and despite having navigation set to 1 minute it insists on jumping a whole file every time I press four or six surely someone at #humanware would have spotted this before shipping, very disappointing. Anyone else noticing similar?

  24. I made my #HumanWare tech support rep laugh earlier. I hope that made his day.
