"Thick cloud, steam rising
Hissing stone on sweat lodge fire
Around me, buffalo roam
Sage in bundle, rub on skinOutside, cold air
Stand, and wait for rising sun
Red paint, eagle feathers
Coyote calling, it has begunSomething moving in, I taste it in my mouth
And in my heart
It feels like dying, slow
Letting go of life(Hyena wakan tanka)
(Hyena wakan tanka)
(Hyena wakan tanka)
(Hyena wakan tanka)Medicine man lead me up though town
Indian ground, so far down
Cut up land, each house, a pool
Kids wearing water wings, drink in coolFollow dry river bed, watch Scout and Guides
Make pow-wow signs
Past Geronimo's disco
Sittin' Bull steakhouse, white men dreamA rattle in the old man's sack, see
Look at mountain top, keep climbing up
Way above us the desert snow
White wind blowI hold the line
The line of strength that pulls me through the fear
San Jacinto
I hold the line
San Jacinto
The poison bite and darkness take my sight
I hold the line
And the tears roll down my swollen cheek
Think I'm losing it, getting weakerI hold the line!
I hold the line!
San Jacinto
Yellow eagle flies down from the sun
From the sunWe will walk, on the land
We will breathe, of the air
We will drink, from the stream
We will live, hold the line
Hold the line
Hold the line
Hold the line"

March 26, 2024
By #HaulNo!
Photos by Xipe Rivera, #CensoredNews"HAVASUPAI -- #Havasupai reaffirms commitment to protect sacred homelands from destructive #uranium mining with prayer and rally on Friday, March 22, 2024. Haul No! volunteer #XipeRivera delivers critical updates and unwavered support from Haul No!
"On World Water Day, I had the opportunity to visit the Havasupai Tribal Lands as a representative of #HaulNo! and join the Tribal Leaders, the Children and the Elders in prayer and rally against the #PinyonPlainUraniumMine.
The village is tucked deep in the #GrandCanyon and is not accessible by road - you must hike in or be flown in by helicopter. This was a profound experience. A soft and fierce reminder. An affirmation of why it is we do what we do."Read more:
