    I mean, yes, of course, #Munchau is absolutely correct that politics is central to #macroeconomics & #globalization

    But no, 100% no, on the idea that this is new, or something that was not previously true but now is again

    All you're identifying here is that all the famous economists like Summers in the media & policy conversation haven't read decades of international political economy research, or nearly enough economic history. Politics has always been at the center
