I just dodged a couple of bullets in the form of an impulse buy. It was between a Tascam DP006 (which would have been practical but dinky and annoying (menu divey), or a Zoom PS04, which would've been cool and funky and had tons of effects of varying usefulness, but uses SmartMedia (worth at *least* its weight in gold (and several times its storage density)) and only included a 32mb card... but I puttered long enough for a third option to come through, which is far more my speed...

A Fostex MR-8. More channels, more physical controls... and I mean, it looks cool as shit, so there's that lol. Oh also it uses Compact Flash, which is infinitely more palatable than SmartMedia.

I haven't touched #Ableton for probably 18months (other than using its tuner here and there if my laptop was handy).

Trying to remember how to do stuff. Up the learning curve!

I finally decided to get rid of my extra #cassette #multitracker (a #Tascam414) a few months ago but not only have I not sold it I just bought this #Yamaha #MT100 off Craigslist. It was *incredibly* dusty and I couldn't get it to do more than turn on when I was buying it, but it turns out the buttons just require a firm touch. Seems like it's fully functional.

It was $20.
