  6. first results, opennn takes the lead, but still uses lgpl... we want at least agpl3 obviously. #fupl 😁 http://www.goodfirms.co/artificial-intelligence-software/blog/best-free-open-source-Artificial-Intelligence-software

love to use this for filtering. such a great filter!

we could certainly take any open source and fork, but i doubt we can really use any of those... none of them got made to grow fast under limited resources, not even get used #offlinefirst on #mobileonly.

perhaps it will be better and easier to restart from zero.
  7. @otfrom @cwebber @civodul reason why we need someone to step up and create a #mobileonly emacs... well, at least i "need"! 🤣
  8. #crazy #plan #allatonce

    + make over 8 million eur in less than 4 years. #aloze #hugeturn 😳

+ find 2 or 3 people to join in #ahoxus full energy (the more folks the better, but no high hopes). #keepgoing 😏

+ get back to focus on #offlinefirst and #mobileonly until i can finally reach #nodevices or something! 🥰

+ of course, nothing changes with all my current commitments. even those that might exist only with myself #laundry! 🙃

+ time to go see the cows... 🤣
  9. @jxself curious to try it, but not enough energised/convinced to try so hard to do so, due to my conditions #mobileonly #ignorantdevops

can you post photos, a gif, or a short story of why this game? 😁
  10. @acousticmirror @robby awesome reference i never seen before, thanks!

but i only saw this (attached) image and i can safely say: nope. i can't imagine how to evolve this into something useful for #mobileonly 😔

i can, however, imagine how a good ux designer could find inspiration in this... especially if pers have never seen anything in lisp. 😁

i personally think that the beauty of this nested hell will always be a trigger to avoid nesting so much!! 🤣
  11. @alexandra i feel about the same, still in need to learn such a language that will allow me to get something similar from full emacs experience, but in my #mobileonly life.

it will be very hard to decompress what i mean with this, but if you find any interest, we can sure discuss it! or you can keep digging the rabbit hole i've already build. 😁

for now, i didn't even know we had so many functional languages from your list, but i still intuitively think my choice will be elisp.
  12. @captainepoch @schrofi #mobileonly have very little to do with what i meant, but since you seem to care...

    my circumstances:

+ i never used command line for long enough to learn basics of `sed` and `vim`. just yesterday i learned the difference between double and single quotes in bash, highly unusual on the programming language world i come from.

+ i also choose to live as much in the wild as i possibly can, without completely losing any convenience. #ahoxus #paradise this means, for instance, that instead of paying 250 EUR for my insurance on a minor car accident, and fix everything without any work but getting new pieces and becoming much less sustainable, i stay with a broken piece for weeks and try to solve it with less than 130 EUR, not to save money, but to keep pushing the project forward somehow. this kind of action takes way more time out of the day than most people (in my circles) give credit for.

+ i do almost all my practical day to day work alone. in the woods, not in the city. a very different kind of alone i grew up used with, for my first 37 years of life. still 40 year old.

just from the top of my head.

i got mobile+only as a minor circumstantial choice.

as for the fire, true #backup means it have already been done much before any accident even begin to take shape. so it have to happen automatically, in my lifestyle.
  13. @schrofi @captainepoch dav. i live #mobileonly and so i mean davx5 app. but just look for WebDAV in general, for syncing calendar and contacts outside of such providers.
  14. CW: #braindumb probably a senseless #rant
@captainepoch i hate signal. almost as much as matrix.

they both move tremendous amounts of energy in the world (like google) by offering awesome engineering and ux work... but they all fail to deliver whatever i personally need in practice, which includes some basic stuff all based on #freedom concepts, such as #fsf and automated #backup (always with some amount of #harmonicchaos of course)

but at least matrix doesn't play with the privacy card (it just plays with becoming useless for #mobileonly).

i would say i couldn't care less what happens to signal, but i actually care and hope it dies. for very different reasons from belgium, though! 🤣
  15. @schrofi #whyihitfollow some times i don't have a good reason and i might unfollow soon after... most times, i just try to vary a lot with content i don't necessarily agree on. at all times, we have something in common: i do most vegan meals, they usually taste amazing.

as for your weird choice of keyboard, have you considered #charachorder ? i personally can only care for virtual keyboard on #mobileonly (android, for now)

  17. @robby way too much new information for me today... but i went ahead and tried to learn about "scheme request for implementation" play on "request for comments", and ended up learning more than i can probably absorb in less than 1 hour.

if i could write such a request, though, i would probably follow the idea i found in the srfi questions that "not all requests are standard" (by misreading it, instead of "standards"). https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc1796

i actually wrote it somewhere already, and certainly many posts any it... i need a good way to code on a mobile phone with nothing but the phone. #mobileonly (still need a better name for this hashtag, which includes the idea that computers should work without the need of anything other than a mobile phone) #offlinefirst

and, for whatever reason, i think it will happen with #emacs (or something very similar to it), just because of #lisp and stallman. 2 tools i never used before.

the request, in short, given all the context:

can you imagine an android lisp editor that can just do everything? starting with building a better input method than current virtual keyboard, perhaps, which could integrate with termux, probably. and including getting complied by next mobileos, be it ubuntu touch, nixos, or whatever.
  18. @vidak boy, i really need to fix my github removed pages now!

abandoning jekyll gave me a lot of work, but mostly learning about `sed` and stuff.

please, let me know if you by any chance can help me on my #mobileonly quest to use emacs on termux with ease!! 😁
  19. @Graycot just created a page there. #mobileonly here. ahoxus.neocities.org

i like the intention and idea, but terrible implementation in my humble opinion.

in my head, it would need instead:

    + agpl3+ / #fupl

+ teach about ssh and gemini before html

+ no reinventing the wheel with freaking web gui for file management or editing files

just a first impressions in 5 minutes thing.

    cheers! 😘

  21. @wickertongue nope. i mean physical keyboard in opposition to virtual keyboard such as on mobile phones...

i usually say #mobileonly because i still couldn't find a good name for this...

i do all my computing exclusively on cellphones, like most people/users today (and virtually no dev, it looks like), and i really miss a software stack to do simple things in mobile...

not because it can't exist, but just because nobody seem to care to do it yet!

since your interests seem to converge into eco, sci-fi, and devops, and you come from outside my circle, i just tried to reach out a bit. 😁

    thanks for the feedback.
  22. #idea #request #comment #nonrevolutionary #stillabigdeal

    https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMLtQUrrX/

you want charachorder to the masses? just make it virtual! and using agpl/#fupl of course.

you know, an app for android and gnu (such as ubuntu touch, which will be the future for the masses).

and, please, make it work with termux and other terminals!

we really need to have such a good keyboard to help transition old farts amazing tech such as emacs into #mobileonly!! 😁
  23. @captainepoch nice! thanks for all the info.

i use K9 and delta chat already. i've been moving to agpl for less than 1 year, so still a lot to learn...

meaning, i've tried over 5 IRC/matrix android clients, and none that worked nearly enough to be usable by someone who uses #mobileonly (i got no physical keyboard since 2019).

i haven't tried at least 2 of your amazing IRC suggestions, but even if they work, they only address 1 point of what i said.

fediverse goes way beyond decentralisation. it makes it federated with granular ready easy public access to all data points.

i need this, and neither xmpp, IRC, and matrix will offer it, until fediverse do it first. within chats. because, like most discoveries, at some point someone will make it and nobody will understand how we could live without it.

    don't underestimate new cultures! 🥰

thanks again for goguma, looks very promising. will try it right now.
  24. @captainepoch @a1ba sorry for not using your preferred channel and reporting on an older version. and thanks for your amazing response, captain!

allow me to get #verbose now...

i did read most of what you repeated here even before you sent it, but i had a mostly #offgadgets day, sunday driving through the mountains with a few local friends and mainly a loving partner. in other words, important distractions from work. so i didn't answer as fast or carefully as i usually do. 😁

now i also usually do too much verbose unedited content, such as this post... please, let me know if you find it too much and i'll edit out!

    first question

+ why do you prefer mailing lists or even private email (for bug reports) over the fediverse or, even more intriguing, over sr.ht issue tracker?!

    really curious to know.

    big messy paragraph follows...

i will send you the reports over email if you really prefer, but if there's one good old tech i could never adapt to i would call it mailing lists. and, today, with my #mobileonly life, it became even harder to. the stupid width limitation on sr.ht, for instance, illustrates very well this problem: feels like no other dev in the world, beyond myself, use no physical keyboard! here i just give you my reasons why i will probably choose private email for bug reports only due to technical constraints in our communication... because i vow for building a completely #transparentlife which i happened to call also a #publiclife. i hate the privacy bubble with the bottom of my heart.

second question (and last one for now, to keep this shorter)

~i think~ i will ask it in a new post...
