  1. I'm in the middle of a mountain valley in #Spain, fully off grid with satellite internet. I have a SIM router too, but on Monday the mobile network went down and it hasn't come back on where I am.

My #solar and battery systems were unaffected, as was my satellite internet so the impact on me of the #blackout yesterday was minimal.

I have always liked the idea of #microgeneration with all buildings or communities producing their own power.

Huge interconnected grids are a #securityrisk

  4. Dear fellow #OctopusEnergy users with Outgoing Octopus tariff… how are you paid, is it adjusted against monthly bill or do you get £££ in the bank? #Solar #PV #MicroGeneration

  9. A question about tax credits for #microgeneration.
I know there is a tax credit available of up to €400 per year for households who "profit" from supplying to the grid. But as this is in practice a utility credit on your account, I presume this can't be claimed for?

  14. This has me so torn. On its pure functionality I absolutely love it, very much the sort of idea (local micro generation) I think we need to be embracing... but as a fire safety engineer/researcher, the "just leave it up to the consumer to do all the wiring, connecting and assesment of their home circuits" feels like it is asking for trouble (and lots of ignitions).

  19. Got about 50 miles of charge from the sun today, plus a full tank of hot water and a fully charged battery in the attic which is currently powering the dishwasher, washing machine, and telly, among other things. #solar #EV #homebattery #microgeneration

  24. Today my home #solar #microgeneration system hit a landmark: 2 megawatt-hours produced since installation last September. Also today I installed an Eddi, a gadget from myenergi.com which diverts any surplus production to heat my water, further reducing my reliance on the gas boiler.

(First, it prioritises charging my #homebattery. Then it charges my #EV. Then it heats my water. Only then will it export any surplus to the grid.)

  29. I just saw a solar panel array with micro-wind turbines surrounding the support posts holding up the panels. That's clever.
