Why would the #UK increase its holdings of the #US #government #bonds over time? Particularly, it has raised its US government bond holdings from $428 billion to $948 billion from 2020 to 2026.

The #Bank of #England does not disclose its US government bond position. Many sources speculate that the key party that has been buying up these US securities is a bunch of international hedge funds. Why would they freeze up $500 billion of liquidity on something that has almost 0% real #interest.
