Fuck's sake, I'm an #OctopusEnergy customer and they say you can sign up to their export tariffs even if they didn't install your solar kit, but attempting to do so fails because "Your export meter point isn't currently supplied by Octopus."

I'm doing OK just having solar and batteries on a standard tariff because my grid usage has gone down by 90%, but that won't last though winter and I'd like to start importing cheap electricity at night and spending it during the day.

But this is the point where all this "smart" home tech gets complicated. #Octopus Flux is a nice simple Time of Use tariff I can get behind, but (a) I can't switch to it and (b) trying to get my #SigEnergy app to understand it is a pain - it just wants me to YOLO via its "AI" rather than set targets by hand. And I'm a massive nerd, I hate to think how e.g. my Mum deals with this.

@gareth had exactly the same happen a couple of months back and complained straight away to get it reversed and back to being on a payment holiday given we have been in credit since April. The algorithm seems to take no notice of actual usage for customers with solar & battery storage plus heat pump for us. Have still been getting estimates for our non-existing gas usage despite #OctopusEnergy removing the gas meter back in January 2026.

#OctopusEnergy have just sent an obviously #AI generated email to tell me that they are increasing my monthly #energy direct debit to about 150% of its current amount. I usually come out of Winter with a credit balance equivalent to 3 months of payments (currently about 4 months in credit going into Autumn), there's no way I am going to let them increase it. Their own Balance Forecast tool says I will be even more in credit than I am now by this time next year if I agree.

Anyone else here use Octopus Energy for their electricity supply?

And have you also had the recent downgrade on their website?

Until recently, I could choose to view my electricity usage by every half hour within a day, every day within a week or month, or every month within a year.

Now I can only view the intra-day version. Gas consumption and electricity export remain as before.

Is that just me or did they do that to everyone?

Have to say I found the monthly view really useful and it's a real nuisance not to have it any more, so I put in a formal complaint.

If anyone else is annoyed by this, perhaps you could put in a complaint too? They might act on it if they get enough of them.

#OctopusEnergy is doing one of their energy saving sessions tomorrow (which is fair, the eclipse is obviously gonna affect them) and if you manage to consume less energy than your average, you get a free energy session on Sunday.

I wonder if our flat can manage to save any energy compared to our usual consumption, because I would like the free energy session (so much to do that eats electricity)
