Just did a quick check on #iOS26 how much work there is to do to update my apps for #LiquidGlass.
#Keepfully and #SpeakLine work rather well. #MeterStats needs a bit of work, mostly because of the custom navigation bar at the top – which is to be expected. Could be worse, but tweaking all the little details will take some time.

@twostraws @mikaelacaron @swiftovercoffee I’m working on my app #MeterStats on the side. My plan is to extend my already existing Shortcuts support next, with more actions and some tweaks here and there. Unfortunately it won’t really work with the Apple Intelligence stuff, though.
You should download it, because it makes tracking your gas/water/power meter readings a bliss and shows your active consumption. Also it’s fully made with SwiftUI and Swift Charts.

I have to say, creating the dark mode and tinted app icons was the most fun part of updating my apps for #iOS18 this year. #MeterStats #SpeakLine

It’s a small mention, but I’m so stoked to see #MeterStats being listed among other great indie apps on @macrumors. Thanks a ton! 🤩
PS: Don’t forget to give us small developers a positive rating in the App Store. That means a lot and helps us grow! #indiedev https://mastodon.social/@macrumors/113149213969400846

Happy Apple OS release day to those who celebrate.
In this regard #MeterStats 1.3 is available to download now! 📲
The update brings automatic reading reminders as well as support for the new #iOS18 control center/lock screen control-buttons. Of course the app icon will now also support the dark and tinted modes.

After a longer break on coding I’m back at #MeterStats again. Of course the first thing I need to do is supporting the new icon appearances! 😉 #buildinpublic

@dave Hi, I’m Alex the maker of #MeterStats.
The app helps you to keep track of the energy consumption of your heat/power/water meters with insightful charts and overviews. Thanks for making this post Dave! 🤙
PS: The winter update v1.2 is coming tomorrow.

I’m working on a redesign of the insights tab in #MeterStats. Which version do you like more? (🗳️ Poll in next post)
Context:
The tab is designed to give users a quick overview of all their meters consumptions. The idea is to make it quickly comparable among each other.
Currently I have a single chart that combines all. Even though I break it down to daily avg., it leads to scaling issues and also doesn’t make sense with different meter units. -
With #MeterStats 1.1, you can use the Shortcuts integration to import and export your data. It’s admittedly a little complex, but, on the other hand, super flexible and customizable for your needs.
I’ve created a new website to help you get started: https://www.pxlwaves.com/support/meterstats/

#MeterStats 1.1 got accepted and is ready to launch on monday. 🙌

Looks like it was a good decision to work on the Shortcuts integration for #MeterStats. :ablobcool:
Now it’s time for Apple to improve the documentation and sample code on this topic!
-
I been using MeterStats for while now in Beta and am loving it. It’s a well developed app!

@podomunro Thats a hard and big topic! What I’ve learned so far from making #MeterStats and other apps is:
– Build what you’d use urself aka scratch your own itch!
– Success might start slow, but *can* grow on the long run!
– Therefore keep working on making it better!
– Listen to feedback as early as possible!
– Get a beautiful app icon and memorable name!
-
@alpennec Not for #MeterStats. I’m in the progress to migrate to SwiftData for another app of mine.
Though, I don’t dare to do this move with MeterStats yet. It’s a bigger project with a slightly more complex Core Data Stack. Will see how long I wait for this one to migrate 😬
-
@craiggrannell Hey Craig, I’m working on an Upate for my #MeterStats app to integrate with the iOS 17’s new Shortcuts.
Developing the shortcuts took me longer than expected, so there’s no interactive widgets. Though, I’m working to ship it with the launch of iOS 17. 😉
Is it still worth to drop you a mail with this update for MeterStats?
Here’s the app, btw: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/meterstats-energie-tracker/id6446205821

@donnywals Good morning! I‘ll continue working on my Shortcuts integration for my #MeterStats iPhone app.
Last week I was stuck on migrating it’s Code Data stack in a simple and modern way, so that’s what I’m trying to flesh out this week (again). 😮💨
