Unforgetful is a new reminders app for people who can’t stop hitting snooze
Unforgetful, the latest app from longtime indie developer Marco Arment, is designed to make reminders harder to ignore — or accidentally dismiss.

You should not have to open an app to find out when the school day ends.
Looking that up should not cost a login, a school portal or a photo of a paper schedule on the fridge.
So KidsPlaner puts it on the home screen: the period that is running, how much is left of it, the next one before school starts, the whole day in the large widget.
Each widget is set to one child, so two schedules fit on the same phone.

A new school year means a new timetable, and it is different for every child: other periods, other subjects, other days off.
You enter it once in KidsPlaner. Every child gets their own periods and breaks, their own subjects, their own holidays and single events.
From then on the Today screen shows what is left of the day and what tomorrow needs, and the home screen widget shows it without opening the app.

Smoke detectors have an unspoken rule: they start reminding you of low-battery at night, and they're designed to be hard to locate.
The physical explanation is temperature: the room cools overnight, the voltage drops, and a battery that worked at day crosses the threshold at night. One beep, a long gap, nothing to walk towards.
Batteries At Home moves that moment. It learns each device's interval from the changes you log and warns you while it is convenient.

I’ve been using Tempo on iOS for my running data, but I am looking for an alternative. What are people’s faves for this sort of thing? No interest in Strava et al, just native iOS apps with strong privacy. The data I use is all the usual stuff like pace, heart rate, weather, routes etc. Also, Tempo has a goals feature (kms per year, that sort of thing) which is nice. Must have HealthKit integration.
I use WorkOutDoors as my running computer, but I want a new data vis app.

OMG. The Wells Fargo app had a stuck badge. Killing it and relaunching didn’t matter. The message it was alerting was spam to begin with, so already off to a bad start. I deleted and reinstalled and it had the red badge already before first launch.

Am I alone in getting irrationally annoyed with apps that have broken and stuck red alert badges? Not having them clear when the basis of the notification has been addressed within the app irks the living hell out of me.

Users have a right to own their files. An app where we as users invest time, energy, and our intimacy doesn’t get to own our content.
If lock-in there must be, it’s not good karma for it to exist at the file level.
I personally get turned off by apps with a proprietary db, and I don’t want @bloom to be one of those anymore.

One positive consequence of AI — there are some — is that it’s encouraging developers to expose their raw files.
I expect this is the end of closed databases for text-based apps.
The next major version of @bloom will be based on text files, exposed to the user.
Notes won’t be jailed in a walled garden of a database.

#iOS27 now let's us create drag and drop on a grid with two modifiers.
Currently I have 240 lines of mess for a delegate for this which I can't even make look good with my current skill floor. That is a HUGE gain!!!

Ok a new #iOS27 setting maybe interesting for my #gameLauncher #app . You can now override per app, if the short press on the #controller home button opens the iOS #game overlay as usual or directly opens your game launcher app.
