If you're facing weird effects or poor performance when working with #Emacs (or #orgmode) and you're having a customized setup:
One thing that may solve some issues is removing your elpa/melpa packages and let it install from scratch.
It might be a good idea not to mix up #melpa and #elpa packages as it might introduce broken dependencies with mismatching package versions.
I've had my learning yesterday and it cost me and unfortunately another expert half of the day to find out about my mistake(s).
Edit: I initiated a #WORG page for tips like that: https://orgmode.org/worg/org-performance.html

I'm very happy with my #SoloRPG mode for #Emacs, which is now available on #MELPA. It started with support for the #Lonelog solo RPG notation format, but has since expanded. I've now added support for #tarot cards and generating NPC personalities and appearances.
Today, I'm going to have a look at adding #Hexcrawl support.
If anyone wants to have a look at the code, it's available at https://github.com/Enfors/solo-rpg
Lonelog by #LoreseedWorkshop is available here: https://zeruhur.itch.io/lonelog

I still need to update the readme, and I’ve already discovered a bug… But my first #Emacs package is now available from #MELPA!

An Emacs mode for editing metadata embedded in files.

I'm unclear the difference between your whisper and #melpa but my own target use is transcribing lectures to launch a background process to eventually produce an org file, and perhaps a subtitle export. Does yours take files as input too? Whisper command line isn't hard from #Emacs dired calling a bash script, but sounds like you've crafted a better way 😊

Kaomel is now on #MELPA! 。◕‿◕。
A snappy #kaomoji picker for #Emacs with ~1000 kaomojis, multilingual tags, and support for both Vertico and Helm. No dependencies, pure Emacs #Lisp.
Install: M-x package-install RET kaomel RET
What started as "wouldn't it be nice to pick kaomojis without using the mouse" became a journey of solving interesting problems around dataset extensibility and completion framework flexibility.

I’ve created a new #theme for #emacs if you like clear theme, vintage style and very minimal color highlighting. It’s called year-1984 and it’s based on the original Beige color of the first Macintosh.
If you’re a EMacs user, give it a try, it’s even on #melpa. ;)

Now merged into #melpa! My home brew #orgmode solution for creating invoices for clients. It leverages the built in clock table functionality to create a nested list of client->invoice items

Also, don't be shy to submit your Emacs packages to MELPA. The maintainers are super friendly and helpful.

I've been running a few #HangTrek games lately. I've been using #emacs Calc mode to generate random letters, by generating random numbers between 0 and 25.
I happened upon decide-mode in #melpa so gave it a try. I can now ask it to roll a 1d26. That gives me a random number between 1 and 26.
Better yet, I can load a table of the letters of the alphabet, then ask decide-mode to give me a random line from that table. This gives me a direct random letter of the alphabet.

Wow!
Somebody just threw a like on this old post of mine from a few years back.
Many of the links in the thread aren't alive anymore, or have moved elsewhere, but I'm going to boost it via direct link here because it appears to still have an attached zip file of probably one of the nicest Gopher clients for Windows I've ever used - Gopher Browser for Windows v1.2, by Jaruzel which I don't think is available any longer.
It's very attractive, intuitive, compact in size, and accepts slang (forgives you for not using proper Gopher syntax), unlike #LaGrange, a more fully featured and beautiful Windows client for both #Gopher and #Gemini protocols.

You may need to scroll up or down a bit. Lemme know if the d/l doesn't work (it used to).
There's also a bunch of other info there in that thread as well, much of it relevant and some of historical #Fediverse significance, and a few SSH capable #BBS clients too 🤘😜🤘
For those of you who are #Emacs folks, I highly recommend the #Elpher Gemini and Gopher client, which you can get from #Melpa.
I hope that helps!

Yes I subscribed in the past to someone on YouTube that just supercharges #Emacs in phenomenal ways. His videos run from basic to extremely advanced, and he presents everything in a cookbook style set of tutorials, demonstrating live while he builds custom environments.
I can’t recall his name or channel off the top of my head right now. Bookmarks are a good thing :)
I find what can be done with #Emacs to be fascinating: Email, IDE, working in my #Korn_shell (tksh) all sorts of regular interesting operations where you rarely need to exit the environment for anything- even #IRC, which is something I use everyday anyway.
I don’t know why, perhaps just sitting down and dedicating time and practice for myself I suppose. And I tried to set up #Vim like keybindings with #Evil_Mode to make it easier for me which is really sort of cheating I guess, but I’ve been using #vi since the late 70’s, so it’s very natural for me.
I’m interested in #Org_Mode, since it seems to be a place where people can start off with using Emacs as a daily driver, and it supports Tex and Markdown, so that’s my first stop I guess.
Now I do use Emacs, to be fair, but I get lost in it easily so that use is quite limited. With Gemini protocol I use two browsers. #Lagrange is very beautiful and similar to what you’ll experience with common GUI based web browsers.
But Gemini is a completely character based environment, so my favorite browser is Elpher, which suits supports Gopher protocol too. Using that gave me some insight into installing from #Melpa.
I find that #Elpher works best for me, since it’s so easy to switch from viewing the rendered #Gemini and #Gopher documents to quickly viewing them as the raw document to see exactly how each page is constructed.
So again, yes, I think I’ve been procrastinating on this for far too many years and I’m going to set a few hours each week to learn and work exclusively within Emacs until I am actually, if not proficient then, competent.
So, how does Emacs factor into your daily routines? How do you fashion your workflows with it?
And thanks for the suggestion!
