  1. sorting the pixels within a photograph results in some cool effects. Here each vertical column of pixels is sorted by hue

  2. @hexagontruth Nice #MathGIF ! I had never seen a truncated octahedron in a rhombic dodecahedron like this.

  3. Consider the following operation on polyhedra where the midpoint of each edge becomes a vertex of a new polyhedron.
I noticed that this applied to the icosahedron or to the dodecahedron gave the icosidodecahedron (see previous toots). So I wanted to see what this would do to the cube. The 3rd iteration (blue) surprised me ! #MathGIF

  4. The icosidodecahedron is currently my favorite polyhedron. You can see it here as 6 regular decagons. #MathGIF #GeoGebra

  5. #MathGIF showing the transformation of an icosahedron into an icosidodecahedron by inflating the golden rectangles into golden boxes.

  6. a slice through a cylinder creates an ellipse. when unrolled, it creates a sine wave

  7. Now the amazing thing ! So you found one specific position for this incircle for a triangle with a 60° angle but what about other triangles with this incircle ?
Pick any point A on the blue circle, draw the tangents to the pink circle and you have a triangle which has the pink circle as incircle and the blue as circumcircle.
This a version of Poncelet's closure theorem for three points. #MathGIF.

  8. @johncarlosbaez Thank you ! *blush* 😊
Mathstodon allows GIFs for profile and banner pics so I'm feeling good here :)
    I'll use the hashtag #MathGIF.
