O número de usuários no Mastodon em servidores gerenciados por brasileiros caiu bastante.

Mas parece que o número de usuários brasleiros cresceu. Enfim... Acho que a galera ainda não entendeu que a graça daqui é você ter sua própria comunidade.

This is why I don’t like the official #MastodonStats (even though they’re probably the best ones we have).

Last Thursday their count showed almost a million fewer accounts than the day before, and now they’re all back. No explanations given.

O número de usuárias(os) em instâncias gerenciadas por brasileiros cresceu 18% em apenas 1 mês. São 2290 de contas não únicas (já que uma pessoa pode estar presente em mais de uma instância).

São 25 instâncias analisadas sendo 14 estão abertas para novas inscrições.

I'm tracking #mastodon active user stats, very boring, very little change. Except the past couple of days, two big jumps in the raw numbers (that got filtered out of the quality-controlled numbers, all the same).

Much excitement, until I found it's down to a single site that came out of nowhere and claimed 300,000 active users yesterday and 600,000 today.

I also found pravda.me, which fluctuates wildly between about 150 and 30,000. Can't tell if it's legit.

Interesting article that matches the data I follow - adoption has slowed to about 10-12k/day and active users has dropped down. Even here on mathstodon while adoption is quite impressive >12k, active users remains flat from 2 months ago.

The drawbacks of https://instances.social are known, but my guess is that the s^{-0.5} power law distribution of the number N of instances per instance size s [1] is probably insensitive to the small number of instances that are effectively <s>defederated</s> off-network.

The N \propto s^{-0.5} distribution and the deviations from that [1] don't yet seem to be well-known. #SMinusHalfDistribution

Firehose landmark day!

Yesterday wasn't the biggest surge of new users - that was when there was a panic about the birdsite possibly collapsing on a November weekend.
But, if this is right, it was a critical landmark. Over half a billion posts in a day for the first time!

The exodus continues...

Every hour Mastodon is adding about 2500 new users.
Everyday between 55,000 and 60,000 new accounts are created.
More than 380,000 people have joined Mastodon this week.

The first of these is from similar data to that I use - puts us at ~2.6m active users. via @micahflee

(I make it a bit higher ~2.7m from <5.6m accounts.)

The second is accounts from a bot like @mastodonusercount via @atomicpoet & many others, putting accounts nearing 8m.

I'm assuming the difference is un- or de-federated instances, incl the Nazis the moderators are protecting us from. (Thank you all SO much!)

Does anyone have another explanation for this?

The latest #MastodonStats from the MastodonApp.UK Instance. We're still seeing significant volumes of traffic hitting our instance, and it's highlighted some changes we're going to need to make in the near future to our architecture to help cost optimise.

I've stopped doing the #DailyStats here on MastodonApp.UK but wanted to share some #Mastodonstats from the #MastodonApp site from the last 7 days.

We've been seriously struggling to keep up with the demand so thanks to all those that have been sticking with us! We're expecting to start seeing some significant improvements and the site should start to feel a lot more responsive!

I tried to answer my own question on what WordPress plug-in to use by triumphantly posting a blog about the movement toward Mastodon. I used Mastodon Autoshare, it failed. 😂 So here is my first blog about and to, Mastodon.
