CW: What If…? S3E5 reaction (spoiler)
What if Thor went for the head? (Credit: https://pca.st/episode/423c07c1-5697-4084-bde1-a0863d4f818e ) A serious-er episode. Please be an #AgentsOfShield crossover: the resemblance to AOS S5 is uncanny. As for Riri Williams, Thorne’s and Wright’s performances are admirable, but the way the script is written seriously takes away Riri’s agency, which I realize is the Multiverse Saga’s PoV of any fixed storylines. Still feel like they could have handled it better though.

The episode starts out over the top but redeems itself later on. Lots of wacky meta references. Random thoughts:
* Is MCU trying to say Agatha remains a misunderstood antihero in 616 because she can’t live up to her potential there?
* Has an Eternal ever arrived at the TVA? Are they robots with souls? Curious to see how they would be processed.
* What are the limits to Cosmic Agatha’s power? Why hasn’t she drawn attention from Infinity Ultron or Strange Supreme? -

Just finished watching final episode of season 3 of What If...?
I think it's sad that it was restricted to just three seasons.
It's a fun show format and while it shouldn't have been allowed to go on for ages, I feel like it was not given the chance to fully stretch its legs as a series concept on screen.
Oh well.

CW: What If…? S3E1 reaction (spoiler)
I’m starting to see why the show is ending: it doesn’t know what to do with itself, other than being a petri dish for ideas. There isn’t enough screen time for the new Sam-Bruce friendship to take hold, and Sam’s lines are repeating the emptiness and unconvincingness from FatWS. The one-liners and references to various mech shows and Godzilla are entertaining and kind of cheesy, but the episode hasn’t created anything unique, meaningful or deep enough to stand on its own.
On the bright side, it showcases Sam’s therapist side which I think still has potential if they dig deeper. The Hulks’ future could be interesting, if they find a way to put them in more relevant settings.
Perhaps the multi-episode season model for What If…?, with each episode introducing a new character or story, is too much of a rush. At least Marvel has always been doing the alternative too, in different names, and just 616 until recently :)
