Bought a new toy ... Sweetwater had a demo unit for $124 and I couldn't resist. I've wanted to play with one of these for a while to see how it works for connecting laptops with MainStage or other virtual samplers and/or DJs to the system without having to move to analog first or having them install DVS. #livesound #livesoundengineer #livesoundengineering #dante

You know you're a nerd (audio and tech) when you're playing Fortnite with your son to prove that the Audix I5 you let him use for his PC and the Shure PG48, Allen & Heath SQ5 w/Dante card, and Dante Virtual Soundcard works. $5K work of tech FTW! 🙂

Dante and multi console question. Given the following setup: two consoles, one FOH and one monitors connected via Dante, and one or more Dante-based sources on stage (ie: wireless mics or DVS for track playback), would you have the monitor console pick up the signal direct or pick it up via tieline from FOH?
Would the signal be “badly” out of alignment from the analog inputs from stage that are tielined to monitors. Does one have a complexity advantage? #LiveSound #LiveSoundEngineer

Had a strange one this morning. Brought up my SQ5 and MacBook Pro with Dante Via. Something went squirrely and the SQ-Dante card freaked out and went into mute. I guess Via was having latency issues in sending to the SQ. Had to stop all Audinate software on my machines and reboot the mixer. Then everything was fine. Anyone seen this before #LiveSoundEngineer #Dante

The more time I spend using Dante, the more I really appreciate it. Using Dante Virtual Soundcard to play music to my Allen & Heath SQ5 and Yamaha HS7s. Last night had VSC installed on my Windows machine and was playing Xbox Game Pass games on it with the audio being passed via Dante to the same rig at the same time. It's definitely handy.

I’ll never understand why church sound guys/gals here in Romania love to compress the drums with a 10-20ms attack. Nothing like neutering the attack of your percussive instruments. Sigh #LiveSound #LiveSoundEngineer

I'm starting to look at the new Allen & Heath CQ mixers. They look like a solid alternative to a Behringer XR12/18 and more like the Midas version. I do think they missed a trick in not offering ones with Dante then it could compete (somewhat) with a Yamaha DM3.

I’m a bit of a moron this morning. I enabled the control network on my SQ Dante card and apparently that brings up a DHCP server. 2 hours later and a complete network reset, I find that simply disabling that feature lets my network come back up as normal. Now I get to reconfigure my whole network from scratch ... ARRRGH! #LearnFromMyMistakes #Networking #livesound #livesoundengineer

I’m really starting to appreciate the position of monitor engineer. Current setup doesn’t have one so it’s a constant battle between house and in ear sound. If only we had enough inputs to double up and offer a separate monitor only channel for the key instruments. #LiveSound #livesoundengineer
