I'm using #fairphone5 with #postmarketos as my dailydriver.. There are a few pains. But I want to share how I solve the main for me. This is audio in calls not working.. What I did is redirect my phone number to a SIP phone number. I configured it in #linphone on #waydroid and with this workaround I am able to make and receive phone calls with audio working in #FP5

Just over a month and I've tamed all the #trunks (with abundant snake heads at the end), made sure 1500+ #blighters are yeeted (with more trying every day) got inter #PBX #trunk working between on-premises and cloud #FreePBX - just waiting for porting of first analogue number to check this (and CLID presentation) works and then main office one can follow.
Took many late evenings, a lot of research of everything from old #BritishTelecom training manuals to some from Universities in India and the Indian telecom companies, and I've learned a lot more about #SIP even since 2008 when I built the first #VOIP #PBX used at work.
Thankfully #routers seem to handle #SIP over #NAT a lot better than they used to (even got an extension it working over #LTE with #Linphone)

Can't really speak to it being the "best", but voip.ms with #Linphone has been working quite well for me for about a year now. Both are very configurable and allow for multiple accounts/numbers. I can easily recommend them as a solution if you're not lookin for a simple one-button solution.Telnyx is the only other one I found that was as configurable, but I had trouble getting them to verify my account.

Got a working #openWRT tested and validated setup, which allows to turn a pair of very inexpensive Edup 2960 #wifi routers into fully effective #meshlocal routers meant to be plugged in thru ETH to both internet gateways ("ISP boxes") of two distinct households close enough for wifi. With #yggdrasil overlay #E2Ee virtual network then, say, pass acentered #Linphone calls with no internet involved from homes to homes & beyond: the more the range extends, the more it extends https://openmesh.clewn.org/

Jsem asi jeden z mála, kdo odmítá vyhazovat peníze za paušální mobilní tarif, a tak jsem se po nějaké době znovu vrátil k telefonování přes #Odorik
Tentokrát s pevnou (internetovou) linkou (zřizovací cena 20 Kč a mohl jsem si i vybrat tel. číslo). Pevnou linku mám v mobilu přes aplikaci #Linphone (opensource), dá se ale i koupit stolní ☎️.
Cena volání oproti mobilním operátorům zlomková. Kvalita spojení a zvuku lepší než mobil-mobil.
S nastavením mohu klidně poradit. -

Разработкой iOS я занимаюсь с 2012 года. Тем не менее, с внедрением функционала SIP никогда не сталкивался. Тема не простая и внедряя этот функционал я столкнулся с некоторыми сложностями, которые хочу осветить, в надежде получить адекватные критические замечания и возможно получить грамотные советы о других вариантах решения описанных проблем. Итак, поставлена задача в кратчайшие сроки внедрить функционал приема звонков и набора номера для звонков на домофон. Первым делом необходимо было произвести изучение библиотек, находящихся на рынке: наибольшее распространение получили Linphone и PJSIP Ниже приведена таблица, дающая небольшой сравнительный анализ для двух лидирующих библиотек на рынке SIP.

Anyone here using #Linphone as a VoIP softphone on Android (from F-Droid) knows a trick to easily / painlessly export call recordings to a computer (my best files transfer method is using the "Material Files" app's built-in FTP server)? Preferably preserving file creation timestamps etc.
Seems almost impossible to get Linphone to export those things, and its filesystem doesn't really seem accessible. It's a pain in the butt.

I think as with so many of Google's dark patterns, this won't destroy the "ROMs" outright, but it will make things slowly more and more inconvenient such that it squeezes most people out and either back to Vanilla Android (disgusting) or iPhone (merely horrific).
If I understood SIP better, I might try to set up something like #linphone using a device like a Hackberry Pi and the Calyx institute's unlimited MiFi yearly plan.

#SIP ist Voodoo! Mein Versuch, die Hardware-Telefone inklusive oller #FritzBox loszuwerden, ist ein steiniger Weg.
#linphone unter #Android war noch halbwegs einfach und ist seit einer Woche im stabilen Testbetrieb.
Graue Haare macht(e) mir #GnomeCalls unter #Fedora. Da ging tagelang gar nichts, bis ich irgendwann auf den Gedanken gekommen bin, es mal auf dem #librem5 zu probieren. Da taten exakt die selben Parameter sofort.
Jetzt geht es auch mit Fedora, aber ich hab nix ausprobiert, was ich zuvor nicht schon x-mal vergeblich getestet hatte. Dafür geht es gerade auf dem librem5 nicht mehr. Kein Schimmer, was da los ist.

At work, I currently face the challenge of finding a Linux softphone I can use with a 3CX PBX.
With sipgate we used Linphone, which worked better than sipgate's Softphone or CLINQ apps. But with 3CX the best I could achieve is registering the softphone. With Linphone I can initiate calls but as soon as I pick up the connection gets terminated by the remote side again (at least that's what Linphone says).
I tried Blink, which at least doesn't terminate immediately. But I don't get any sound, on neither end. I can hear recordings originating from the PBX, though. The codec negotiation works, too, as I went through each codec individually.
With Jami and GNOME Calls I can't even register the softphone with the PBX.

#Linphone Firstly, I appreciate the mention of Linphone. It is indeed a great tool, and I should have included it in my list. Linphone stands out for its versatility and strong support for various communication protocols, making it a robust option for both personal and professional use.#DeltaChat is new to me, and I am eager to give it a try. However, I am curious: is it just another XMPP client, or does it offer unique features that set it apart? Generally, I prefer les feature-rich clients because I often use just simple text and voice communication. For my personal use case, XMPP is fine when it is compatible with TTS (Text-to-Speech). You're right that IRC and XMPP have their strengths, but I am always on the lookout for tools that I can offer to regular users.
#Signal and Session are both backed by single entities but prioritize user privacy. Personally, I don't have enough experience to delve deeply into the pros and cons of Signal and Session. A significant limitation of Signal is that I can't build the app from source code, and as far as I know, there is no real way to run it on a server OS—it's only available on iOS, Android, and via Waydroid on Linux, with wayland GUI. At least Session is working on x86 architectures. In general, I think both are useful for mainstream users due to their familiar interfaces and ease of use. While Signal and Session do a good job with privacy, they may not be the most secure options, and they certainly don't rank high on the Free Software scale. Would you agree with my evaluation, or could you elaborate on your criticism?
#Matrix is designed to be decentralized and open, allowing users to host their own servers. This decentralization provides greater control over data and enhances privacy. Comparing Matrix to XMPP+OMEMO might oversimplify its capabilities, as Matrix offers advanced features like cross-platform interoperability and robust end-to-end encryption. It's open-source, and I haven't seen any obvious problems with it. Could you elaborate on your thoughts about Matrix?
