  1. The Large Helical Device can run much longer than tokamaks of similar size because it doesn’t rely on plasma current to maintain its magnetic field. Its longest discharges have lasted tens of minutes!

But achieving detachment - a state when the plasma barely touches the vessel walls — is tougher. It needs much more heating power, which usually shortens the discharge to just a few seconds.

Yesterday, we managed to keep a detached plasma going for 12 seconds #Fusion #Science #LHD

  2. A heliotron uses continuous coils to generate a helically shaped magnetic field — basically a magnetic cage that keeps the hot #fusion plasma confined.
It’s a similar concept to the stellarator #Wendelstein7X.

  3. Tonight, we're not just printing—we're building a fleet! Firing up the 3D printer to create a massive Wasp-class amphibious assault ship (LHD). Get ready to see this miniature marvel come to life, layer by layer! #3DPrinting #WASPClass #LHD #ModelMaking #Navy #3DPrintingLife twitch.tv/tuxramus 🐧 🧙‍♂️

  4. @sinabhfuil: Makes me think: If I ever go to the UK for #cycling, should I buy a "left hand drive" sticker for my bicycle? 🤪 #lhd #rhd

  5. RHD vs LHD

So I am planning a trip to Ireland in the late summer and am renting a car for part of the trip. I am thinking that I can adapt to a manual RHD drive car (and driving on the left hand side of the road) reasonably quickly. Is this delusionary?

Am interested in any LHD manual drivers and how they adapted to driving in UK, Ireland, India, Australia or Japan etc.

Picture for attention only .. I definitely will not be driving a Ferrari.😆
