Earlier this week, I visit the Lake Champlain Basin program staff at Grand Isle, on South Hero Island. The lake's Hero Islands are connected by causeways from mainland Vermont. The view below is from the middle of the US 2 causeway between Sandbar State Park and South Hero. I learned the lake had frozen over there only about a week before my visit.
