Thoughts on the politics and practicalities of Medicare: Traditional v Advantage?

Half of my friends on Medicare are on KaiserAdvantage, and say it's fine, they are happy with it.

This is a little surprising to me, since they are leftists, and I know part of Project 2025 is a plan to drive everyone into an Advatage plan as a further step to privatizing the whole thing.

On the other hand, Portland, OR is an unusually difficult place to find a primary care physician who takes traditional medicare and is accepting new patients (https://academic.oup.com/healthaffairsscholar/article/4/3/qxag054/8511516)

It may be that the choice in practice is a 6-of-one/half-dozen-of-the-other sort of thing. (As argued here: https://www.kff.org/medicare/a-review-of-62-studies-finds-few-big-differences-between-traditional-medicare-and-medicare-advantage-on-a-variety-of-measures/) (Or maybe not, since that is a KFF review, and maybe the wall between Kaiser & the Foundation is leaky).
