by Robert F. Williams & Martin Luther King Jr. & Truman NelsonNegroes with Guns is the story of a southern black community's struggle to arm itself in self-defense against the Ku Klux Klan and other racist groups.
Frustrated and angered by violence condoned or abetted by the local authorities against blacks, the small community of Monroe, North Carolina, brought the issue of armed self-defense to the forefront of the civil rights movement.
The single most important intellectual influence on Huey P. Newton, the founder of the Black Panther Party, Negroes with Guns is a classic story of a man who risked his life for democracy and freedom.
As prologue, the issues raised by events in Monroe are weighted by Truman Nelson and Martin Luther King Jr. in essays concerning the role of violence in the civil rights movement.

When someone says "Black Lives Matter" and haters respond with "All lives matter," this typically means they don't count those whose rights & safety are compromised. Since those lives don't matter they're not among "All Lives" in their small heads.
So please take a moment to acknowledge that #BlackLivesMatter

There's no such thing as racism towards white people because white people aren't systemically oppressed by a different group does to them. People can be prejudiced towards white people because prejudice is on an individual level.
When a trans person does something, the oppressors will account that action against the entire trans community. When a black person does something the oppressors will account that against the entire black community. When a white person does something it is not accounted towards white people as a race. White people have produced the most child predators, mass shooters and domestic terrorists, and so on and so forth in the United States and yet we are not trained to look at white people as dangerous. However, we are trained to look at anyone who isn't a white person as dangerous.
Most teachers are white. Most public figures are white. Most people at any head of authority in the United States are white - local, national, international. Government or non-government.
The only group that gets away with doing anything terrible and it doesn't get accounted against their entire race / skin pigmentation / whatever you want to call it is white people. anyone else does something terrible it's a commentary on their "community" . I feel like, at first, these individual communities be it black, be it LGBTQ, via anyone else, which started by those people with good intention but got co-opted by white people to make the entire group look bad, meanwhile there is no "white community" to hold accountable for any white individual's actions.

The battle for equality is far from over for most minority groups, especially African Americans. Subject to institutional racism, discrimination in housing, jobs, education and access to services; our African American brothers and sisters now face voting restrictions, increasing hostility and the erasure of the actual history of their race in building our country. It is a difficult time, requiring more involvement and direct action to stem the reactionary white supremest and christian nationalist movements spearheading contemporary hate and discrimination. #race #racerelations #equality #HumanRights
