@3sat erinnerte letzte Woche in der Kulturzeit an den Minimalmusiker Julius Eastman. Grund genug, mir nochmal eine der wenigen Live-Aufnahmen mit ihm selbst anzuhören (kennt vielleicht jemand noch andere Aufnahmen mit ihm?)
1990 starb er mittellos und war dann jahrzehntelang vergessen.

He was an outsider in every sense of the word and used his music to confront racism, homophobia, and society's lack of emphathy. And yet, his music is full of joy.

Who would have ever expected to have two chances to hear Julius Eastman's Femenine in one year? Tonight it's with Wild Up, who released a fabulous recording of it last year.

Ooh, I see there's a new remaster coming of the original S.E.M. Ensemble recording of #JuliusEastman 's "Femenine" from @frozenreeds with new notes by Mary Jane Leach. It would be on my #bandcampFriday must-get list, but I already got the previous version, so I'll be getting the upgrade (and I don't do vinyl), which I eagerly await. An essential recording for those of us for whom such recordings are essential.
