It's fun watching birds in fountains and playing with shutter speeds. I love this shot.

Toronto as seen from St. Catherine's one sunset.

Those awkward nestling days. :)

And here is a blurred photo of it flying with the beak full of fluff. I was almost fast enough. :)

An eastern kingbird has collected a beak full of cattail fluff.

The other side of those wings. This is another butterfly who has seen things. Its wings are faded and scratched, but they still are intact and work. The red spots on its forewings can just be seen and much of the blue has been worn off or faded.
-
This is its back. The cinnamon colour of the wing bars is very clear.

A straight stem.
We do live on an amazing planet. We just need to stop the billionaires from destroying it.

I saw this along a boardwalk through a wetlands in PEI, but it seems more widespread in Canada. It's good food for muskrats and waterfowl apparently.

This photo was an attempt at minimalism, considering the lighting and the fog out on the water, but I don't quite like the flight silhouette, the wings aren't quite what I wanted. But, the blurb on the water! I couldn't have planned for that. It's a duck mid dive, likely a merganser.

If I've misidentified this, please let me know.

I thought this was a bank swallow, but because it has a buff chin and chest, it seems more likely to be a northern rough-winged swallow. They both nest in similar habitats. The beak indicates that it's still young and I didn't know if that affected coloration, but having seen an image of a juvenile rough-winged, it seems more likely. If you happen to know your swallows, I am open to correction.

It was only when looking at the photo that I noticed the critter was standing on a web.

If you look around the cormorant colony at the Leslie Spit, you might see Black-crowned night herons, or even great egrets. During breeding season, though, humans are not permitted past an area that is designated a viewing area. Last I was there, they even had a blind in place (several years ago).

In case you thought dinosaurs really all went extinct.

The brown feathers let us know that she is a lady ostrich. Such gorgeous feathers.
