  1. Motion was voted on, and failed to pass.

Late at night it turned out that, following negotiation, most #UltraOrthodox MKs would want to give #Netanyahu an extra week and would vote against the motion.

The opposition decided to go through with the motion, fearing that in that week, the UltraOrthodox will have a leverage against Netanyahu (the opposition generally does not support them).

Eventually only 3 of the 7 Ashkenazy Yahadut Hatora party voted for it.

  2. Opposition parties in #Israel have decided to go through with the non-confidence motion. If it fails, a new one cannot be submitted for the next 6 months.

The Ashkenazy[1] #UltraOrthodox party has comitted to support it. However, the support of the larger, Sepharady, UltraOrthodox party (Shas) is still needed.

    We'll see how this unfolds.

[1] Yes, the UltraOrthodox are quite racists among themselves.

  3. Tomorrow (Wed. Jun 11th), a motion of non-confidence is likely to be put forward.

Note that the motion has to go through four votes: if there's a vote tomorrow, there's still a great deal of procedure it should go through.

But it would be a clear signal that the current coalition is on its way out.

The issue triggering the vote is #conscription , where the #UltraOrthodox parties want to avoid it. Opposition here would generally want to push the government into action.

  4. Update: Shavuot is over and with it the ultimatum. There are various reports that both #UltraOrthodox parties will support a non-confidence vote. Or rather: technically this is a bill like any other, and must pass four votes of confidence. This can last for weeks and be stopped at any part of it.

But there are good chances of elections in October or so.
