The language used in the study were especially concerning. Referring to “stages” in diabetes (this isn’t a thing), and preventing risk of T1D progressing to T1D (T1D is often spontaneous because our bodies can be dumb).
It really reads like someone jumping on the hype of HCQ and not actually being experts on diabetes, running from absolutely zero clinical knowledge of the diseases (it’s multiple, after all).

I saw a weird study exploring the use of hydroxychloroquine to prevent T1D. It started in 2020 at the height of popularity of HCQ.
What makes it weird?
Among inclusion criteria is detection of diabetes related autoantibodies in at least two tests. Among the exclusion criteria is diabetes and treatment. So the criteria for T1D diagnosis, but not an actual diagnosis.
The study is ongoing.
I feel like this is a waste of time and resources.

Potholer54 is one of my favorite sources. In fields where I have expertise they are scientifically impeccable. Sometimes you notice he is a Conservative, but his science is always carefully researched.
